I ****ing hate snakes..............thats all I got

Have never really been afraid of dying, ghost, gays, or anything else in this world, but snakes terrify me

I usually see one rattler a season. None for me so far this year. Chicken snake and black snake is all I've seen.

I've seen a rattler and several copperheads. Only seen one non venomous snake so far, water snake. He'll, it maybe been a copperhead too, just got a glimpse before it dove under. Been smelling cucumbers about 1/4 of the hikes I go on.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in venomous snakes this year? I've seen more just this summer than I have in more than a decade.

I killed a 6 foot eastern diamond back on my friend's property last month, probably the fattest wild snake I've ever seen. Cut off the rattler and let my friend keep it. He was about to piss his britches. My dad taught me how to take care of them when I was a kid.

I don't like killing them unless I know there's going to be a lot human traffic in the area(like popular deer hunting spots), they're clearing the land out to develop so I went ahead and took care of it for them.

I support your snake policy. A 6 footer ain't no joke, my friend. Wow!

Usually, I'm a live and let be kinda dude. Never had a problem with a rattlesnake. When a copperhead is moving aggressively toward me, it ain't keeping it's head.

I'm definitely a live and let live person even with venomous snakes. Like I said, I only kill them when I know there's a good chance someone less aware of their surroundings might step on it and get bit. My friend and his family will be out there a lot clearing the area for construction, so I figured better safe than sorry.

I actually like snakes. They're valuable assets to the ecosystem.

Edit: but I ain't Steve Irwin, I don't like them enough to try and capture it and release it somewhere else.

Are venomous snakes any better at regulating vermin populations than non venomous? I'd much rather have a black snake in my yard than a copperhead.

Are copperheads aggressive?

They're more aggressive than rattlesnakes. Their only warning is a musk they release that smells like cucumbers. Their defensive posture consists of striking rapdlidly, multiple times.

Really? Guess the ones I encountered as a kid were juveniles or something. My family swears water moccasins are super aggressive. We have a pond on our property.

Water moccasins are more aggressive than copperheads. They're territorial. Neither are very venomous.

I assume youre talking about a rat snake? I imagine they eat about the same amount of vermin as a similarly sized venomous snake. I would kill a copperhead if it was in my yard. I don't really consider that "the wild". Unless youre living on some type of nature preserve Lol.

Rattlesnakes sometimes choose not to inject venom in their strikes, they're generally not very agressive, preferring to intimidate or retreat. They're much more venomous than copperheads or water moccasins though.

I've had them just about climb into our boat on a couple occassions. Literally beelined towards us, no fear at all.

I live out in the sticks.

Ive only encountered them once. Copperheads seem pretty relaxed, but I swear they have temper tantrums or something like it. It doesn't just seem like they feel threatened, they genuinely seem pissed off sometimes.
