Official Screw Your Cable Company Thread

All this Chattanooga stuff is helpful. Thanks guys. Because I don't see myself sticking with comcast. When I'm watching already it will just cut off and go black for like 30 seconds it makes me so mad

How is U-verse? The one thing that I am concerned about with them is the slow internet. I like to stream Netflix and work from home occassionally. I can't have slow internet.

Can't comment on the comparison as I've never had EPB. I steam Netflix shows regularly and also work from home on U-verse without problems. U-verse has several different speed options depending upon your usage. While I'm not into gaming, my impression from my internet usage is its limited on the servers on the other end of my provider. The provider can only pass along the data as quickly as the supplier's servers make it available.

Didn't Dish network try to buyout Direct TV years ago and that deal wasn't allowed to go through? I believe that was years ago when direct TV was about busted when a lot of people had those cards and stealing their signal.

Nothing from FiOS in Virginia Beach. We get the Big10 network so I am hoping it either gets dropped or SEC Network gets added. The rep I talked to did not even know what it was.

AT&T would be getting screwed over badly if they bought DT for that much. Change the billion to million.

The potential to get the att name into new markets, open new revenue streams, and instantly become the largest Internet\television provider makes it a very smart investment imo. I think I read earlier where att is worth around 180 billion so the ability to purchase is there.

The kids and I were at BestBuy on Saturday. You know they have these DirecTV reps there trying to get people interested in DTV. I stopped by their desk and simply stated that I'd been with them for 12 years and was satisfied as a customer for now, but the SECNetwork was a deal breaker. The lady knew exactly what I was talking about, and went on to say confidently that a deal would get done. She also stated that she is getting the same comments multiple times daily and SECNetwork being a deal breaker and the potential switch to Dish, and said she's telling her bosses what she's hearing. Maybe she knows what she's talking about, maybe she doesn't, but by the last week in July, if DTV doesn't have SECNetwork (or at least make me feel sure they will have in time for the season) I will switch.

What say ye?
