Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

That is absolutely true. What’s crazy is the SEC was given respect with 8 teams in, but then they seeded the entire conference like we are trash.
I think they rewarded the 2 teams that played tough out of conference opponents and won. Bama got loads of mileage out of that road win at Houston and we beating Kansas on Neutral court and Texas at home were huge and dont forget a loss at Arizona wouldn't penalize us much. The rest of conference seemed to pickup in conference play A&M for example they did great in SEC play but impossible to ignore what they did elsewhere.

This is exactly how it works. These people spewing committee bias conspiracies are ridiculous.

I also think we are ignoring that this team seems to recognize big name opponents and play with a little more chip on their should…played very well at Arizona, beat Kansas on neutral court, beat Texas and Alabama at home. Our struggles have typically come against less heralded teams.

Good point. This team needs to have more confidence in the last four min of the game, as that is when we struggle to score and even turn it over. I may be incorrect, but I think it’s b/c we don’t have someone to lean on beyond Santi. Most teams cover him like a blanket so it’s time for Phillips or JJJ to take over late in the game.

Louisiana's non conference schedule was horrible. The only game worth bringing up is their game against Texas.....they lost by 28.

I think that's why KenPom has us as a 16 point favorite.

He also has us as a 5 point favorite over Duke.

Exactly and ironically enough coaches still try and do something besides go risk big away games. Bruce Pearl masterfully manipulated the RPI when here. The irony being the same Louisiana team we face in round 1 he scheduled us a road game in their gym as they were supposed to be a high level mid major. No one would take that away game they would make those guys come to your house. Winning that road game played a sneaky roll in seed position that year. The formula is very similar from one year to next. A few committee members change but the recipe is the same in war rooms. Quad 1 wins rpi. Strength of overall schedule. Then people on surface see identical records and wonder why the discrepancy? As if conspiracy is in effect when all records are not equal. You need to reward those that challenged themselves more.

Reactions: JCP201 and VolCalls
Vol fan deep in the heart of Aggieland. Aggie fans are absolutely irate that Tennessee got 4 seed and they only got a 7 seed. I would like to remind them about Alabama, Kansas and Texas. And speaking of Texas, they are even madder that they may have to play the Longhorns in the second round. And as far as Seth Davis goes, I vividly remember him picking San Diego State to beat in Tennessee in 2010. The Vols made it all the way to the regional final.

ESPN Selection Show: “Duke Duke Duke Duke Duke … Duke.”

I wasn’t sold on the hire last yr but their new coach has done a good job. I forgot Duke was ranked #7 earlier in the yr before the injury bug. It’s eerily similar to Michigan being ranked in the top ten last yr.

We were one of the hottest teams last year, it’s been proven time and time again that being hot doesn’t make a difference. Duke as a 5 is far from the worst draw we could’ve gotten.

You’re probably correct though they were #7 earlier in the year before the injuries. They are playing well winning 9 consecutive games but hopefully we can end their streak @ 10.

Who knows. Maybe Tan gets hot and wins a cpl games in the tourney despite the loss of its point guard. Go Vols.

So everyone on ESPN picked Duke to go to final four (Bilas, Davis, Sethburg (sp), and two others).
