I think this team is good enough to make it to Hoover, but I'm not sure it can make it any farther, there are still a few too many holes, and we are relying on too much inexperienced pitching. With that being said I like what Serrano is building with this last class and I hope he gets to see these guys all the way through to the end

I think the baseball team is in the same position the basketball team was in during this past season, young and has plenty of talent, but ya gotta let the talent grow up before you can beat the big boys

Nah man that ball was almost immediately returned. The CSX Engineer in the last train on the yard woke up, took it out of his coffee cup and tossed to a guy in a shop truck who drove back over to the field. 5 minutes tops. Sure the pitchers miss spots but when I see from the stands that our guys are trying to throw back to back to back change ups, curve balls, or fastballs in the same spot, then I know a D1 hitter sees it and can anticipate whats next. That last missile launch Sunday was a hanging curve sure but why? The pitch before was a curve for strike that pissed him off and he knew what was next. He also prepares for hitting like that in BP. UT never takes hell hacks like that in BP but thats a different post. Im just a stupid fan who sees the current ratio of off speed, breaking ball, and fast balls has a low overall success rate. I wish they would mix it up more. Be unpredictable please. When my dumb ass can see a pattern thats a problem. You can blame our pitchers for poor execution and most already do, but at some point the plan deserves some credit too. After seeing a big part of the pitch plan seems to be do the same thing and expect different results, its not all on the boys. Fortunately this the beginning and not the end. Lots of good baseball left. Our pen is strong and will get stronger. I simply refuse to down grade a young staff for one weekend...a couple of bad innings that were allowed to be a vulture party, or a 2nd curveball in a row shot down the road when it could have just as easily been chin music, an outside fastball, or an inside handcuff. Its not their call.
