Prove me wrong breh... I await a response sure to be riddled with emotional observations and logical fallacies, having reason thrown out the window and being founded nowhere within the realm of what could be considered a logical thought process...

Entertain me.

I hope he doesn't come here just for that reason... People this insane deserve to be disappointed... Plus Patterson is a better coach...

:lolabove:

It cracks me up that these people hang on every word that's typed be it from:

Some guy posting from the Grey Cup
Some guy that details cars at the Caddie dealership
The "I heard this from reliable source" guy
Or any other yahoo that says Gruden is coming to UT

I'm not going to argue with you over anything but hoping that Tennessee doesn't land Jon Gruden just because the fan base wants him so badly is crazy. Think what you want of him as a coach, but he was fourteen games over .500 in the NFL. Impressive if you ask me. Either way, he'd kill the recruiting trail and bring us elite talent right away.

What defense would Patterson run? And please don't say the 4-2-5 that he runs at TCU because that would be a miserable fit here. We don't have any safeties that can tackle, and a safety oriented defense is the last thing we need. So you bring in a coach and make him change his defense or wait until he has players that can run it, which we don't have time for. Regardless of whether or not you believe Patterson is a better coach than JG, there's really not much debating that Gruden would be the better fit at this moment.

What kind of defense would Gruden run? I would think any coach would look at what they've got and play to those strengths....not looking at 2012! :loco:

I'll go even further. How many championships has Patterson won PERIOD? Winning a Super Bowl is every coaches dream. To Gruden, it's a reality.

The fact Gruden won a Superbowl with a team that has at least 4, probably 6, hall of fame players on it speaks more to the marginal quality of human Tony Dungy is than to Gruden's success... For the record gruden won 12 games his first year in Tampa and 12 the next two... Then won 11 on the strength of a last place schedule and immediately went back to 4 wins the next season when the schedule toughened up...

A Super Bowl trumps everything...

So Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Dan Marino.by your logic... If you've won a Superbowl you are better than someone who hasn't, right???

I want you to say it... Say "Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Dan Marino"... If you can't say it you're trolling which equals you're stupid. If you can say it, you're just stupid and possibly still trolling...

Remember we're dealing in absolutes here, this is your system, there's no room for explaining contextual circumstances...

I could also argue that Patterson has been the beneficiary of a weak conference.

There is no reason to think Gruden couldn't be good here. There is also no reason Patterson couldn't

Then won 11 on the strength of a last place schedule and immediately went back to 4 wins the next season when the schedule toughened up...

After compiling a 40–28 win-loss record (including playoffs) in four seasons with the Raiders, Gruden replaced the fired Tony Dungy as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, via a high-stakes trade that included Tampa Bay's 2002 and 2003 first-round draft picks, 2002 and 2004 second-round draft picks, and $8 million in cash.

The Bucs' search had taken more than two months, and had proven to be a major embarrassment to the Buccaneer organization. Tampa Bay had expressed an interest in Gruden, but Davis had originally refused to release him from his contract. The team subsequently interviewed several other coaches and believed a deal was in place with Bill Parcells, before Parcells backed out, reportedly because his choice for General Manager, Mike Tannenbaum, told him not to accept the job because of the salary cap difficulties that Tampa Bay was about to endure.

Not many coaches can continue winning with aging players, no draft picks, and salary cap hits...

Fact is, Dungy couldn't get it done. Gruden did in 1 year. Have you ever stopped to think during every offseason why numerous teams have tried to court him?

Superbowl Win>>>>>>>>BCS Win. by a million times

I'm not sure if people aren't understanding me, or if there are just a lot of people in here whose work day consists of asking me if I want fries with me burger...

A BCS win and a Superbowl win are at least comparable for the sake of conversation... You can lose 6 games and win the Superbowl, you lose two college games and you're probably out of getting into a BCS bowl...
