Official Tennessee at MSU Game 2 - Thread - 7:30 PM - ESPN3

Wow...CD balks...that's not something you see from UT pitchers under Serrano...it plates another run...

He should have been dismissed 2 years ago but definitely after last season. This is a joke.

Clearly, I as wrong on DS. Like the guy, but he's just not getting it done. Having said that, I have to ask again....if a proven winner like DS can't win at UT, who can? Too early for names I know, but why is this job seemingly mission impossible?

I think I'd have been shocked if we didn't have a ball tonight. 😂

It's a valid question. We spent the early years of Serrano trying to build through the JUCO path. We've recruited better of late but not in the same stratosphere as the elite 6 or so of the SEC.

I'd throw the bank at someone like Coastal Carolina's coach.

Not sure; did Delmonico curse the program after he was fired?

Coaching prospects:

1. Chris Burke
2. Bill Mosiello
3. Randy Mazey
4. Jesus

Is Burke coaching any level of baseball, much less at the college level? Good God, that's as dumb as wanting Peyton to coach the football team.

Helton is the smart answer of former players, if for no other reason he's actually on a college staff.

fwiw...I checked out the KSU baseball program, Curries first year there was the best year they'd had in a while and it was pretty mediocre after that and he didn't boot the guy, he inherited the coach so he hasn't led a search that I am aware of for a baseball coach.

Absurd to think you "have to be on a current college staff." It's about knowledge of the modern game, and the fight in the heart. He can bring in a top current college baseball recruiter, or keep Simcox for a few years to handle. Hell, he might already have contacts and pipelines. He is still very active in baseball outside of announcing. How is all that "experience" working for us now?

Burke works for the SEC Network.

You just answered your own question. He "might" have contacts. If you're going to hire a guy that has zero coaching experience, you better be damned sure he has a lot of contacts.
