Official Tennessee vs Vandy Game Thread...

i can honestly say that our defense has looked pretty damn good all half. Getting one foul shot has hurt, but I dont think Vandy has the offense to really get it going, that is, unless Ogilvy has an amazing 2nd half. Keep feeding it to Chism in the post and let Tatum get a few open shots and we will be alright

If I remember correctly, I think in either 97 or 98 Gator got a 15 yard personal foul for taking off his helmet, which revealed a bandana.

It was 1998 and it was the NCAA trying to cut down on taunting. If you don't believe me go watch every single touchdown Ike Hilliard scored in his Florida career(1994-1996).

Regardless of how terrible Vandy is shooting the ball a win at Memorial is something that most in the SEC won't accomplish this season.

surprisingly that 19% shooting isn't solely from poor shots. There was a lot of good D in that.

Color me impressed.

Not so much.

Vandy is shooting awfully. Not knocking down the open jumpers they've had and clanging more 2 footers off the rim than even we normally do...

This team can not defend the perimeter at all. Man I wish Bruce would give these guys a lesson on how to put a hand in a shooters face. Thank god Vandy is shooting awful from 3.

poor offensive output =/= poor teams

Honestly, did you see the ASU/UCLA game last week?(two teams that would be the class of the pac-10, admittedly) There were scoring droughts of 7 and 13 minutes by ASU and UCLA, respectively, and they looked an awful lot like what we just saw.
UCLA or ASU would both skull Vanderbilt. That's the difference. UCLA and ASU=Two NCAA Tournament teams. UT and Vanderbilt=One NCAA Tournament team and a team that would finish fifth in Conference USA.

Neither UT nor Vandy could beat UCLA or ASU playing the way they did that half.

No matter how you spin it...this is bad basketball.

There's a difference between great defense and poor shooting.

Such nonsense. Tyler played well. He was in foul troible so could not attack as much and chism was dominating so...
AmazEs me how dunb people can be

Vandy is not playing well on offense right now. We have contested more shots tonight than we have all year.

I have seen a way uglier game -- the first half of the Washington St-Oregon St game. WSU plays a tough Wisconsin-esque man D, OSU plays a trapping half-court 1-3-1 zone to mask the fact that they stink, and neither team can shoot. (I had to change the channel at halftime.) The Pac-10 is way down this year compared to the rest of the country IMO.
