Official Tennessee's Tournament Chances Thread

Oh you can say that about a bunch of games.

However, this team was good enough to beat peay and Oakland. If they do that, their tourney chances look a lot better.

its so aggravating cause i think talent wise no they are not better than memphis but they could have beaten them for sure the first time.

If we beat Georgia and UConn this week, this will be a conversation worth revisiting. Until then, we have to play two games above .500 just to get a NIT bid (considering the last game of the SEC tournament will be a loss, unless we win the whole thing, in which case it's a moot point.) As much as we all hate the NIT, I think it's very important to get some postseason tournament experience to build for next year.

Clearly, the team is getting better. The players are buying into what CCM is selling. But asking this team to go 11-3 over the last 14 regular season games (because that's what it would take, plus at least one win in the SEC tournament) is simply not realistic.

We're capable of getting the toughest wins necessary to pull off that run, but we're also capable of dropping some of the easier games. So, I don't expect it to happen either. At least this season isn't going to be the Wade-minus-Allan type of season that it briefly looked like.

We'll know after next Saturday if we're just a team that plays to the competition and can't get over the hump.
2 wins and our RPI will take a considerable jump, but it would still require a strong finish in conference play.

Remaining Schedule

Road Games
Georgia, Vandy, UK, Florida, Alabama, uscjr, LSU

Home Games
Uconn, Auburn, Georgia, uscjr, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vandy

4-3 won't get it done and even that's not a given. Bama is tough and LSU plays good at home. We should be favored against Georgia and jr but we still go on the road to the big 3 in the east.

I see 10 winnable games. Everyone but Uconn at home and Uga,jr,lsu on the road.

Is this a long stretch, yes, is it possible, yes. This won't be easy but the way the schedule looks could we upset Uconn seeing how they are missing their starting pg? Absolutely. Can we win the other home games on our schedule, I don't see why not, if we play to our capabilities we are more than capable of winning. On the road I think uga. Jr, and lsu(not sold on them) can be wins. Vandy uk Florida and bama I hope to take one of those road games. Is this possible? Absolutely! It's not probable, but it is definitely possible.

We will have a much better idea after Saturday if we go 0-2 this discussion is over. If we go 2-0 this discussion will start picking up steam.

12-4 with one win in the SEC tourney gets you in. Anything less than 12 wins you're probably going to have to win the SEC tourney.

11-5 sec win over Uconn that puts us at...
19-12 with wins vs Uconn and Florida, I'm pretty sure that gets us in and one win in sec would seal the ticket at 20-12

How bad is it going to suck if we get to that bubble and the loss to Austin-Peay is what keeps us out?

It'll suck big ones. This team will look back and say we could've played a little harder again peay, Oakland, and coc and we wouldn't be on the bubble. Oh well they dug their own grave they need to play their way out of it. They h e plenty of games left and quality opponents left to get it done.

We will have to win the sec championship. I like our team, but some guys show up one night, and others show up another. To much inconsistency on this team for me. I do not believe we will win 10 games in the sec this year. Now if Stokes gets better as we go, then we definitely have a shot at 10 wins.

i can only speak for myself but i think that is what those of us that are saying we CAN see a 10 win sec finish are seeing. the team is starting to play better and if stokes can come in and perform like he did on a consistent basis in extended minutes, while not sacrificing defense, i think we are automatically 2 wins better with him.
