With only 7 games left and 6 of them SEC games, that could come back to haunt us.
It's bc their not a very good team. Shaky defense, shaky pitching, tons of walks, not much power.
The thing that kills me, it's all on the line right now. Everyone keeps talking about the NCAA tourney, but we aren't even a lock for the SEC tourney.
The way these guys come out on Fridays(or Thursdays), isn't that much different from tonight...we've had about 11 errors in the last 6 days...I mean, you just can't do that.
Worst of all, postgame, from the players, I don't hear them being ashamed of their performances, I don't hear embarrassment. I hear it from the coach, but from the players, not so much.
That team had won 12 games...TOTAL, before tonight...they came ready to play and we didn't, that's obvious. There are only about 30 teams out of 302 with a worse RPI than UNC-A...I know it's just baseball, but can you imagine if the football or basketball team lost to UNC Asheville? It's year three, we should be waaaaay past this stuff by now.

The game of baseball allows for a loss or two like this. But we've lost too many to teams we should have beaten to excuse this one.
Hope some guys get sick of this quick and give their team the collective kick in the ass they need to finish this season the way they started it!
More on Price. I was told tonight that he was in today's line up and for the multiple time this season he pulled himself for not feeling up to par. If this information is accurate I feel for his teammates. What is going on if this is true and has happened multiple times as I was told? I sure hope my info is not accurate but he has missed quite a few games this year after CDS said he was one of the better hitters in the nation.

This is clearly a different team than the one playing at the beginning of the year. We didn't lose a midweek game until our 29th game -- about the midway mark of the season. Most everyone in college baseball agrees that midweek games are not really that important, but it's one of those things that has to be a point of pride for a program -- to win those "trap" games. The excitement, energy, the atmosphere isn't there, but we have to find a way to keep our foot down and beat teams we are better than. That's pretty simple. I don't know what changed.
Having said all of that, we went from being in a pretty favorable postseason position (IMO), to being backed all the way through the wall in one game. 11 RPI points is so unbelievably huge, we all of a sudden have to win a series AND put on a show in Hoover. Its not easy to see that happening. ...BUT we do control our own destiny, and as someone said earlier, we do seem to play a lot better when we are backed up against a wall. Well here we are. Let's see what these kids are made of...
I've preached that (bolded) this season, but tonight, under the circumstances, was different. Winning wouldn't help us much, but losing sure could hurt.
I agree, it's certainly not the same team that started off with all the swag and I agree, and stated that these guys perform best when the chips are down...I'm starting to wonder whether the team wouldn't be better off if a couple of guys that usually travel, don't make the trip to Starksville.
I appreciate how positive you and others keep the forum, and I've called for it myself at times...this is an inexcusable loss, given where the team is currently...someone needs to step up and lead. Missing Hoover is unacceptable to me, not that what I think matters.
GBO!!!
sorry for the rant.
These guys are done with exams, done with class. All that's required is that they play baseball at this point.
I've watched almost every at bat, every pitch for the last three years, including this past summer and other than (not including Senzel, Maggio and K. Serrano), Stew, Cox, Smart and the catchers, the rest of the team is underperforming and has been all year.
Maddox, VJax, Price, Williams and Simcox are better than they have shown this season, throw Owenby, Bettencourt in there too...
We should have taken the series form UGA. From Auburn. We shouldn't be here, wondering about Hoover, with 7 games left.
