Official UNC Asheville at Tennessee Game Thread - 6 PM

I just heard that Price didn't make trip to Starkville with team this weekend. If that's true what a statement being made by CDS. Either you are all in or you are out. GO VOLS!

Hard to understand how a kid goes from "maybe the best hitter in the SEC" to not even making the TRIP to the most important series of our season.

What a damn shame.

Maybe I've missed something, but is it completely out of the question that Scott is legitimately injured? All I've read is that he's pulled himself for "not feeling up to par". Now if that is explicitly stating that he just decided he didn't care about baseball at the time, I really need to revisit the English language. That, to me, could mean all types of things, but most likely would hint toward nagging injuries, or an illness.

Can someone explain to me what "not feeling up to par" means to them, and why it is so bad?

He had a concussion a while back, hasn't looked right since IMO...He's had a rough time staying in the line up the last several weeks...I'm not going to read anything into it other than, he hasn't missed a trip the last two years. He was in the line up for UNCA and then he wasn't.

I think we'd all like an explanation.

Either way, it's a shame we're without a guy who could help us so much, when we need it so bad.

I've preached that (bolded) this season, but tonight, under the circumstances, was different. Winning wouldn't help us much, but losing sure could hurt.

I agree, it's certainly not the same team that started off with all the swag and I agree, and stated that these guys perform best when the chips are down...I'm starting to wonder whether the team wouldn't be better off if a couple of guys that usually travel, don't make the trip to Starksville.

Hate to call you out in front of everyone on this, 66, but what (who) were you referring to in your comment about us maybe being better off if a couple of guys didn't travel to Starksville with the team?

If he is still dealing with concussion symptoms, which can last a long time, that's not a reflection on his toughness or commitment.

Withholding judgment here.

First, let's all agree we don't know with 100% certainty who has or has not made the trip.

To answer your question...I have some suspicions that all is not right and I had them going back to summer ball, for the few who followed that thread.

Most of the question marks sorted themselves out...one way or the other.

Price basically showed up for his assignment, but based on the stats and following the games, he didn't seem to want to be there...he didn't play very much, which is not what I expected...Does that mean anything now? No.

If the trainers clear you to play, you end up on the line up card, then you don't play...mind you, that's the first time I recall this happening in the last 3 years...it's curious. BUT THAT IS ALL IT IS, at least as far as we know.

As I've always maintained, I'm just a fan of the team, I don't have any inside knowledge.

The other thing I'd add, which is really just old fashioned deductive reasoning...Will Maddox is not the prototypical first baseman. Price started at 1B last year. I went to some practices and scrimmages and Price tutored Maggio from right field on the basics of around the horn.

If Maggio is not producing offensively, why not put Price at 1B? We have several guys that can play out field positions...Maddox playing 1B, while Price is on the bench makes no sense...I understand in a mid week game you might want Senzel to get some time at 2B, but...to me that hasn't made sense...I'd be interested in some other opinions...

I agree. Price was a damn good first baseman for us last year. I think he looked far more comfortable there than he often does in RF.

Price hasn't been right since he misplayed two fly balls at South Carolina IMO...

It's not uncommon to have vision problems after a concussion. That makes baseball pretty difficult.
