OFFICIAL VOLS COMMIT LIST as the LOIs come in -- 2/4

I wonder how many will transfer back here after they see the turnaround that CLK makes? And as far as Phil goes, he needs to either swallow those sour grapes or make whine with them.

Dang. What a fickle fanbase we have here. Like rats jumping off the ship before one game has been played. I think the staff did a great job of pulling in some quality guys that we had no shot at with CPF. We dont have a huge number of commits but our guys are quality recruits who bleed orange. I'll take 7-10 of those guys over 15-20 wishy-washy Oku type recruits whose heart isnt commited to this university. We've had all these 4-5 star headcases in the past that didnt pan out.

:good!:

How did Auburn get the class they got? Their coaching staff had about the same amount of time. (not a knock against our guys - just surprising)

Auburn had a better season. We had new coaches and failed and now have a totally new staff. When we go 8-4/9-3 next season it will open up future prospects eye. And the guys who shined us on will live to regret it. IMHO

I'm pumped. Even though I would have liked to have Brown and some more linemen, I'm pumped with what CLK and Co. have done so far!

I'd say your right. Kiffin needs to take note on that one.

She plays basketball... Do you really think Pat Summit is going to take orders from a new coach on The Hill?? Let's be realistic... Just because you tell a kid you want him REALLY REALLY REALLY bad, doesn't automatically make that kid trust you, like you or want to play for you...

I think people really need to relax here... If anyone thought that this whole situation of a new coach was going to turn everything around in 6wks, then those people are completely unrealistic and have no idea about sports. Look at Saban's first year at Bama... Look at Meyer's first year at Florida... It'll take at least a year for this ship to be righted...

It would of been nice to get MB & lock the state of TN down. I wanted teague more anyways. I'm not mad at the staff at all. They did a great job trying to convince MB & treated the kid like a ROCK STAR! IMO your either with us or not. If he don't want to be orange then crap on em. JMO!

I am proud of our coaches and our recruiting class!!!! I know we didn't get everybody we wanted, by it is great to be a Vol in my book. I call it NOW.....THE BEST WR IN 2010 WILL BE A VOL!!!!!

Could've been you Marlon....could have been you! I hope you see the success you want behind AJ Green.....

How did they have a better season? Thought they went 5-7 as well. They had a new OC too.

Sometimes you can do everything right and still be unsuccessful. I think Brown was UGA all the way. I don't really blame the staff for losing out on him. I'm withholding my judgement until the 2010 class and the 2009 season.

Can't wait till spring ball. The coaches did everything in their power to get Marlon here, and that's all they can do.

If the rumors of Drayton telling some recruits not to come to UT are true, that might be a very significant factor in this also.

Using Scout as a reference, the schools are ranked by default based on total points (no. signed x stars) which is very deceiving. Take Florida, for example, who is only signing around 15-17 guys today b/c they are already loaded with underclassmen wearing big heavy rings. The only ways you can truly evaluate that class are 1) did they meet their needs? and 2) average stars per player. To compare them to Ole Miss with 35 signees (mostly 2 stars) is ridiculous and means nothing.

UT is ranked #11 by Scout based on average stars per player. They are #26 on total points, but they only signed 19 guys today. To me the #26 is irrelevant and the #11 is the one that counts. Now as far as evaluating the class based on needs will take some time but overall I thought we did OK.

Another RB (Oku or Brown) would be nice, but we got two outstanding athletes who can even play QB so I'm not disappointed in the class. The staff really had around a month to do this, so I'll give them credit for a job well done.
