KenPom likes Houston as well. They are the only outlier in the top 10 of both rankings. The only thing I can think of is that they really value their losses for some reason. All 4 of their losses are to teams in the top 50 of the NET. Either way it’s weird seeing a team that high without a single Quad 1 win. Also I don't understand how Houston is #4 in the NET. They have as many Quad 1 wins as 0-23 Delaware State. #285 ranked Cal State Bakersfield has even managed to get a Quad 1 win. They are 0-3 vs. Quad 1…does this make sense to anybody else?
Their losses to Houston, Alabama, and SMU were by a combined 4 points. Statistically it’s not going to make a material difference to their efficiency numbers if they had managed to score or block one more shot in those gamesKenPom likes Houston as well. I sure didn’t understand their offense. Auburn has the nation’s leading shot blocker and I’m going to have Molinar dribble the time off the clock then drive into the lane. Zero ball movement and he never got a good shot off. You’d think a coach like Howland could run some better playsI have a MSU friend who just told me that Howland might be done. This was his most talented team at MSU.
Carelessness. They weren’t even running anything, either Molinar was dribbling the air out of the ball for 25 seconds to then pull up for a contested mid range jumper, or the ball was dumped down low to be immediately stripped. Also they had a 10 second violation when they weren’t being pressed at all, just lazy in walking the ball up the courtI didn’t get a chance to watch the late games. How does Miss St only score 2 points in the last 4 minutes of regulation? They deserved to lose that game. Pitiful.
