Official Watch Party Thread (NCAAT seeding edition)

My thoughts on Iowa, Arizona, Kansas & Baylor…

-Iowa right now is one of the hotter teams in the nation and is getting projected around a 6/7 seed, their KenPom ranking and recent play suggest more of a 4 seed, get them to a 4/5 seed line and away from a potential 2nd round matchup with us as 6/7 seed. Also, they have a good chance of knocking off some B10 teams (Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue) which would also further help us.

-Arizona, Kansas & Baylor all the same thing…I don’t think even if they lose we are likely to catch any of them, maybe there’s a path to catch Kansas but seems unlikely. So we’d be better off if those schools win and knock out the UCLA’s, USC’s, Texas Tech’s, Texas’ etc.

Sorry if this has already been covered - but what would it take for us to jump Kentucky? What if Vandy/Bama upsets them tomorrow and we make it to the SEC champ game - would that do it? Or would UT beating them in the semi's be enough?

Them losing tomorrow and then us winning 2 would definitely do it imo, not sure about us just beating them H2H.

I think beating them head to head and then winning the championship would come close, too. That would put us closer to them on the seed line and if we’re within 1-2 overall seeds of them, the committee might just jump us ahead. In this case tho, we would probably need at least one of Duke, Nova, Purdue to lose early to get within an overall seed of UK.

Iowa is my pick to win the B1GT. Even though they didn't get a double bye their second game would be against Rutgers, and then they get a rematch game against Illinois. They have a deep bench, so I'm not concerned w them playing 4 games in a row.

Would be great for us if that happens

Vandy moved up to 71 and WVU dropped K State below Colorado. So now we have a 9-7 Q1 record. 9 wins against Q1 is tied for the next most after Gonzaga and Baylor’s 10
That’s good to hear. I wasn’t expecting Vanderbilt to jump that high. So we need both to win today to firmly have them stay Q1. I’m fairly confident Colorado can beat Oregon, still a tough game though. Hopefully Vanderbilt can beat Alabama.

Unless they get blown out I think Vandy can remain in the Top 75 even if they lose. Colorado would be borderline.

Yeah you’re right. I forgot Alabama is still inside the top 30 of the NET.
Would almost be ideal. Alabama would remain a 1a loss, which I think we'd be the only team without a loss outside 1A games. Also, I'd rather Bama advance as a better shot against Kentucky

Since Neutral site wins are Q1 if they're over a Top 50 team, and the Big 12 has so many ranked just inside the Top 50, every outcome today except for Kansas over WVU would result in a Q1 win. So a team like TTU can potentially really improve their resume a lot. Hopefully woudn't get past Baylor

Anyone remember when lots of VN got upset when Mike White turned down our open BB job? (I have to include myself in that number tbh...)

He may be a good coach but his work at Floriduh has been suspect
