Official WBB NCAA tournament thread 2024

That wasn't a moving screen at all. She was completely set. I've seen a TON of moving picks--where the player sticks out a leg or leans into the defensive player. That didn't happen on that play. You can't call that there--you just can't.
SVP sez hell nah…

Karma got lost on the way to the arena but finally arrived just in time to destroy the Evil Empire.

Yes it did. I don't understand why people are miffed. UConn not winning a championship should be on every Vol fan's Christmas wish list, from now until the end of time. And if they must be comforted, then think of it as a small payment from the very large account balance of illegal picks run up by UConn on UT over the years. Why worry about the how the sausage was made? They're going home. That's all that matters.

Just a brutal call; especially in that spot.

…but I admit, I snickered.

Credit to Bluder too, she recognized right away UConn’s main strategy was going to be to force them to win with 2s instead of 3s. Told her team to take it to the hole and they did. Foul line was the difference in the game really, otherwise it was very even, UConn actually had more made FGs.

UConn was indeed hammering them a lot though. Lots of body contact and lots of dropped arms in the post, you just can’t do that.

Geno has to stew on that for a whole year.
Lady Vols Softball team beat #3 Jawja.
Takes some of the sting out of the BaseVols failure at Auburn 👍

Yep. That's a foul. I knew what the foul was before I even first saw the replay, because UConn's done that little step-into-the-defender crap for as long as I can remember. They did it to us in Philadelphia in 2000. They do it to teams today. The UCONN on their jersey has given them a lot of leeway to pull things like that. It's always been a foul, but the refs don't always call it on them. This time they did. Boo and hoo. Boo. And hoo.

Official got guts calling that moving screen.
Edwards
wwasn't set.
Plus elbow was out
Even our Tennessee Andrea Carter said the elbow was out slightly
I was saddened that AC joined SVP and took a hard position it should not have been called.

Go to 5.8 on the clock and Edwards has set a screen with right foot just below the free throw line extended and left foot 3.5 to 4 ft inside the 3 pt line. But then slides out into the defenders path with the left toe over the line and elbow even further at 4.9 on the clock maintaining contact with the defender. GO LOOK. CASE CLOSED. Won’t even play the you have to keep your arms inside your frame card.

Shouldn’t have made that call

Thought UConn ended up looking gassed at the end as well. Iowa looked like they were in better shape. They have been playing at a breakneck pace all season so a slightly slower tempo like that they still had plenty of legs.

How did she get from where she was at 5.8 sec to where the contact took place at 4.9 sec without moving? Go look and THEN tell me she was in the same established position.
