well then its a non issue (like the Bray thing) OP needs to get a life before posting

I'd say it's a legit question to ask. We're talking a little more serious than the TB situation. There was an actual arrest.

@kingcfb: Fact: Smith was arrested. Fact: signed guilty plea. Fact: UGA policy dictates 1-game susp (for FB). Fact: Richt decided, "Nah, he'll play."

Obviously I know what it means, but elaborate please

[QUOTE However, not every coach sees the benefits of a vigilant testing program, as former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden said recently. "I know of a lot of schools, and I don't want to say something I shouldn't say -- but you don't have to drug-test," he says. "If you don't want your boys to be caught with drugs, don't drug-test them."

Indeed, The Magazine's survey of more than 60 schools competing in BCS conferences revealed myriad testing protocols and discipline standards for players testing positive for marijuana and other recreational drugs. One coach at an FBS school admits that when he was an assistant at a previous school, only half of the team's players were ever tested. "And they never tested the guys we knew were smoking," he says.

Not that a single failed test would necessarily jeopardize the athlete's eligibility. Athletes at schools such as Ole Miss, Purdue and UCLA don't face mandatory suspensions until they fail three tests. Fewer than 10 schools surveyed, including Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State and Virginia Tech, penalize players with mandatory suspensions from play after their first positive test.[/QUOTE]

Defend him all you want but MR dropped the ball on this one.

It's likely because UGA is getting close to taking volunteers from the stands to play defense due to suspensions. Their matchup with Missouri in week 2 could be very interesting.

Haha, stfu dude. I guess if I get arrested for possession or selling weed.. I would face no repercussion unless I failed a drug test. Nice logic bud

Happened in March ? gee its August now -- post the orig. story for us -- not some stupid tweet

I understand that all major programs are guilty including US.. Example the alleged Cam Clear initial cover up.. But nice guy or not Richt is beyond lax and he has little to no control of his team.. And his disciplinary actions are a sick joke. Even more so than Fulmer ever was JMO.

Completely true. I for one have always liked Richt.. But some institutional control is needed.

Joke? I wish that was the case sometimes. The drug policy will get you punished for the first offense while other SEC schools don't even bother testing.

I can also guarantee you that Murray would have received a suspension if he would have been accused of what Bray was. The AJC would have been all over a story like that.

If a CB arrested for possesion isn't suspended, than Murray wouldn't be suspended for throwing a beer bottle. C'mon now.

Anyone here wonder when the NCAA will start getting involved in these arrest issues and slapping a 4 game suspension on players like Goodall does --- its bound to happen because of all the crap going on at PSU
