there is no need for any univ to teach the rules to its players ever again

Not really. It's clear that precedence is something the NCAA has no interest in practicing, theyve been interpreting their own loosely worded rules as they see fit based on who they're dealing with for a long time. I won't venture to say how and who they decide to play favorites with, but they obviously do. This teethless ruling is just the latest example. If this were Troy in the GMac bowl, ish woulda been harsh.

I just can't understand why selling something that belongs to the said player is cheating or a rules violation.

I think if it wasn't illegal to sell something you got as a result of playing then we'd see a lot of universities giving the players new uniforms each week, new shoes etc and helping them sell them as a form of salary. Imagine after the Kentucky game, "Hey what'd you get?" I had $1500 so I bought Tyler Bray's jersey, what about you?" "I only had $50 so I got Matt Simms jock. . .":birgits_giggle:

So their defense is they didn't know cheating was against the rules?

I didn't know the speed limit was 55, didn't help me get out of my speeding ticket. It's strict liability, it shouldn't matter that they didn't know, just that they did it.

It's lame to sell your championship ring. It's incredibly lame to sell it while you are STILL ON THE TEAM. It's just hilarious to do all that to help afford your tattoos.

I think college players should be able to take endorsements from organizations outside of the university.

Its like speeding and getting pulled over and telling the cop to let me off because I didnt see the sign, its total crap that the NCAA let that pass

it is total crap, the NCAA is playing favorites, if this were arkansas instead of ohio state, they would b suspended from the sugar bowl and the first 5 games next year.
The BCS cant afford for the sugar bowl to be so one-sided because then no one would show except for arkansas fans and they would open up a 50 inch umbrella in ohio states a**. i cant stand it, and ohio state fans are so arrogant, they deserve to get killed in the sugar bowl. Out of the 7 years i've lived in columbus or should i say com-blow-us, ohio state has never won a "BIG" game. with as much talent they hav almost every year, they should win big games, but they dont, and tht is y i'll never pull for them as a second favorite team.

I liked Desmond Howard's nickname of the "Tatt 5". I thought it was cute.
