Oil Rig Explosion

Mainly, it's because the infrastructure necessary to produce is so expensive. You definitely don't want to start laying pipe until you know what the well will produe.

Breaking news here - the static kill (as of now) is going great. This thing is almost beat.

Sounds like the Gulf absorbed the oil better than expected, as well. It's been a disaster, but not as apocalyptic as it once seemed it would be.

The GoM is natually suited to clean itself as it does it every day. There will be an awful lot of doom and gloomers with egg on their face when this is all over. For me, the big disaster would have come if the beaches got destroyed....

You heard it here first.... as of around midnight (CST), the well has been killled... We should begin the cement process tomorrow and then start the cleanup process. It's been a very good day.

Now that the hard part is done: I'll take a moment of silence for those who lost their lifes or those who lost their loved ones.

Unfortunately we will never know exactly how the spill happened as the Republicans blocked subpoena power to the committee investigating it.

As to the other, I am not surprised that Fox is running a story entitled "White House Blocked Release..." but then then you read it and deep down in the story not only does it turn out that they did release the worst-case scenario numbers but also that people invoplved in the process don't think it was mishandled.

And then at the end they find one guy out of 150 to criticize the government for this. But if you Google him you get bavsk all sorts of studies of him criticizing the government for everything related to this. He, like Fox, has an agenda.

It is disgusting how Fox pawns this off as news and generates it by talking to people that are just ready-made sound bites to make it sound so much worse than it is.

So NOAA wasn't gagged?

So NOAA wasn't gagged?

1. Not according to the article you posted, in about the 5th or 6th paragraph. Headline notwithstanding.

2. If so, by whom? The budget office? Huh?

3. If so, why? Yeah, the Obama administration was real friendly to BP on this.

What makes more sense: that the budget office had to get the okay for the release of these other numbers and it was obtained and they were released (aritcle says so) and that Fox has taken something out of context to say "White House Blocked...."

or

that Obama and the White House, while publically excoriating the oil industry and BP in particular, and while demanding $20 billion for a compensation fund, and while touting numbers much higher than BP was touting, was also putting the kibosh on even higher numbers coming out that would have helped the White House make their case.

It is pretty evident that this is a hit piece.

And not a very good one.

you do realize that obama took more money from BP than any other politician right? what's our evidence that the GOP favors BP?

You call it a hit piece, but I wondered then why they were so obviously low-balling the numbers, and this is the only article that I have seen that even remotely poses the same question.

Let's not forget, at the time when the oil was still flowing, the White House was getting a LOT of heat for their perceived mishandling of the crisis. Do you not see how THAT might have led to them "putting the kibosh" on even higher numbers?

I just don't like how misled and uniformed the public was on this thing, and STILL are. All because the well is plugged doesn't mean this thing is finished. The ecological ramifications are going to echo for some time.

Investigators: White House Blocked Release of Spill's Worst-Case Scenarios - FoxNews.com

This seems to undermine the conspiracy theories of the White House wanting to use this as a way to stop drilling entirely.

Not sure what their angle is.

Want a clue????

Ummm the AP ran this story as well as numerous other outlets.

Hooray for transparency!

I don't follow. Do you have a unifying theory to the NASA "Islamic contributions to space exploration" thing and the BP oil spill, AND the smuggling of boxcutters onto airliners?

Because that sounds like a good yarn.

Thank you, I should have made that point and didn't even think to bring it up. Yes, this was originally an AP story, not a foxnews exclusive.

Ask yourself this, who benefits most from the shutting down of domestic oil production.

Oh wait, obambi is solely interested in the environment and saving the planet, sorry, my bad.

It was a Murdoch plant, carried out by Greta.

So Obama is conspiring to increase the demand for foreign oil, with idea that we will be forced to increase imports from...? Who?

Saudi Arabia? Wasn't that the Bushs' chums, not Obama? Iran? Seems pretty unlikely, since Ahmadinijawhat'shisface had a chance to play nice with Obama and chose not to. Iraq? Again, seems more like a Bush invasion conspiracy.

I'm not seeing it, but I am listening. I love conspiracy theories.

And why not then release the real numbers for the oil spill, and increase public outrage then?

What conspiracy??

I didn't mention any conspiracy, I was referring to Obambi's philosophy, agenda and strategy.

Well there is the fact that BP has donated more money to Obamba over the last twenty years than any other politician, perhaps he owed them that.
