Ok I'm convinced someone's gone...

Watch a few of these videos - especially the ones vs Brewster Academy and 5 star post Mitch McGary. Moves well and has a nice shot. Clearly not a low post guy and is more comfortable on the perimeter, but looks like he could be a nice player with development.

Tobe Okafor - YouTube.

I don't know who, although I have my thoughts, but someone who has or is getting a scholarship will not be IMO. This makes about the 3rd or 4th recruit this staff has recruited, AFTER Armani Moore had signed. Someone must be leaving, I hope we pull this guy...

“@TheRecruitScoop: Tennessee is now expressing interest in 2012 MCI (ME) center Tobe Okafor, who has decommitted from Loyola Marymount.”

Tobe Okafor
Class of 2012 Center
6'11" 225 lbs

ESPN-
Strengths:
Okafor is a physical specimen with a long and athletic build. His frame is cut and powerful but still plenty mobile as he runs the floor, has a quick first and second jump, all while being able to withstand contact inside the paint. He is a college ready shot-blocker and finisher, who will get easy points by outrunning opposing bigs from rim to rim. He has good dexterity around the rim, evolving touch, and a potential go to move when he faces up to sweep to his left side.

Weaknesses:
While uniquely talented physically, he's still fairly raw in terms of his understanding of the game. He doesn't yet understand how to seal his man on the interior and also has a tendency to over-dribble in the post. His skills are slightly farther ahead and while he can sometimes execute a move in the post, he has a much harder time reacting when his initial move is defending. In general, he needs to log more game experiencec in order to develop the instincts and understanding of the game to maximize his physical tools.

Bottom Line:
He's long, strong, and athletic and owns the physical tools to make an instant impact. He was committed to Loyola Marymount upon his arrivial this summer, but if he weren't his upside would have undoubtedly attracted high-major interest.

Notes
Native of Nigeria

Definitely getting looks from some good schools...
“@TheRecruitScoop: Drexel, Hofstra, Iona, Auburn, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Syracuse & others are looking at former Loyola Marymount signee Tobe Okafor, he says.”

Germ you are watching the wrong guy, he's 42 not 32. He doesn't even get in in the video verse Brewster.

Watch the game vs La Jolla Prep he gets in at the 1:00 mark. Definitely runs the floor very well, and can block shots. Definitely not a permiter player though.

That deflates the bubble a bit. :mf_surrender:

#32 is James Farr a consensus 3* and Xavier signee haha

I posted above, watch the la Jolla prep game, he gets in in that game at the 1:00 mark. Definitely a post guy, runs the floor extremely well to be his size.

Longshot but if you have to cut somebody I would prefer it be Yemi. Let Hall free another one up for next years class. Id hate to burn Halls replacement this soon.

I would think if Martin were going to cut someone, he would have already announced it.

This is a tangent to this discussion. Martin announced sometime recently that there would only be 2 official walk-ons ( he gave there names but I forgot) next season. This is due to roster restrictions ( not sure where these came from) limiting the total roster to 15 players. I know some of us had talked about maybe McBee giving up his scholly and taking straight academic aid and this announcement pretty much ends what little chance there was of that.

I agree. The guy is 6-6, maybe 6-7. If you think he is taller than 6-8 then you are :cool2:

Haha ok.

A. Stokes is a legit MINIMUM 6'8" and yemi is not shorter than jarnell.

B. I've stood next to both and I'm 6', i have a pretty good idea of their height.

Here's the team photo, yemi is the tallest guy on the team. So you're saying nobody on the team is taller than 6'6"?

I have a class with Yemi. I am also 6' and see him nearly every day, and he is not 6'9. Not getting into a pissing contest though. I disagree with heights listed. You guys do not. GBO

I'll give Yemi 6'7. Honestly Renaldo was probably the tallest on the team putting him around 6'8. Am I saying our basketball team is short overall and that their listed heights are skewed by an inch or 2? Yes, most definitely.

Also CCM is measured, and it's documented at 6'5"(they now say 6'6"). If you look on the Tennessee basketball FB page, there's a picture of yemi accepting an award from CCM and standing side by side. Yemi is leaning slightly to shake CCMs hand and is still a good 3" taller than him.

Sorry but there's no way yemi is 6'6", as said already, hes 6'9" minimum.

Go look at the picture I linked, Woolridge and yemi are side by side, yemi is the same if not taller than Woolridge. And if you notice, yemi isn't standing up straight, I've seem them all up close, side by side in person, yemi is the tallest person on the team.

No doubt, Yemi is a legit 6'9" if not taller. Not sure what the other guy is talking about.

This. Volnation is funny sometimes about people disputing heights and weights because they have class with them. I remember somebody in the football forum trying to say that a 225 pound Herman Lathers was bigger and weighed more that a 280 pound offensive lineman (Mack Crowder)

I'm not an ignorant, idiot. I understand people's heights. You are all good posters, I just find it funny that you think that the heights listed for players are not skewed an inch or two in their favor. If Yemi was to ever go to an NBA combine he would measure in at 6'7. Nearly every player in college "loses" 2 inches when they hit the NBA official heights list. I could show a list but I'm a fool what do I know. Once again, not a pissing contest. We disagree, I'm not causing a big thing over it no need to go on.
