OK State Hostess Scandal

This happens at least once a season to some relevant program and all the media, alums, boosters, admin all get in a big fit for about a week or so over it. Then after everyone has had ample time to puff out their chest, it all dies back down and becomes 3rd page news on some local rag.

The NCAA doesnt have any teeth anymore any way, so why not just let everyone have their PR moment and we can move on.

NCAA/Media/Sources - "Yall been cheating and we're going bring the hammer down on you!"

School's Coach - "We run an honest program and are willing to punish players if they are found to be involved in something illegal. For now, they're all playing and are eligible under team rules."

School's Admin - "We're looking in to this too and are willing to cooperate with the NCAA."

School's Coach - "I'll only answer football questions from here out."

And then, about two weeks later the players in question "violate team rules during practice and have to sit out against Directional State College of the Blind for the first half." - per the SID.

Process is complete.

Someone wake me up when they conclude Miami's investigation.

Better yet, give me a call when they actually have the clout to impose "The Death Penalty" again on anyone.

The hostess thing has/was an issue for a long time. Not surprised if something likes that was going on. I would be surprised if Les was aware of any pay to play scheme.

Les has always been quick to sit, suspend, or other players/coaches involved in any free benefits at LSU... and yes, it has happened. Akeim Hicks was placed on ice and coach let go after the school found out about that.

As far as the NCAA, well, to me they are just as much as a problem.

I'll also add that somewhere on some Dove lease down in South Texas, T. Boone hung up the phone, reached in his back pocket and asked for a stamp to mail a check back to Stillwater. However long it takes the US Postal service to get from Nuevo Laredo to Oklahoma is about as long as this story has real legs.

Aw heck, let's just let the team vote.

Essentially prostituting out a specific group designed to serve as ambassadors to recruits is against the law regardless of where the action takes place.

To say, "If on campus, it's all good" is an embarrassingly ignorant comment.

The NCAA won't touch this. It would require going after a bunch of coaches at several different schools, and they simply don't want to do that.

They may not have a choice in the matter depending on how big the story is and how substantial the foundation to the story is.

Let's all act shocked. It's not as if UT didn't have a brothel program set up ever.

If I remember correctly the recruits didn't even have to come to Knoxville under Kiffen. The Horstesses drove to the recruits? That kind of activity is SOP at all major, and even secondary, institutions. It will be different if it is suggested by coaches and admin that the hostesses should engage in the behavior.:peace2:

What would really be a problem is if a beautiful young lawyer in the office of student affairs was banging an athlete or two... Oh.... wait.....

It's not against the rules. :) Matter of fact, you can have a player that's on trial for murder and allowed to play, with or without a vote.

I am generally okay with the way Les runs the ship, I mean, Les suspends players on an ongoing basis for just about everything. He has kicked off the team and suspended numerous 5-star guys.

As far as Hill, which is what I gather your comments were in regards to, I actually wouldn't have mind seeing him sit for a little longer. I do not think kicking him off the team was needed, so I actually agree with the vote... of course, to me this his last chance.

Maybe you should spend your time going after teams and coaches that never suspend or kick players off the team. I feel LSU's record of suspensions and dismissals off the team stand on it's own as far as what they are prepared to do. LSU even fired an assistant coach when they found out he was given a benefit to a player.... but since the NCAA does NOT really punish anyone anymore.... why should LSU self-regulate?

I mean if we go off of suspensions only LSU has players that have been caught doing drugs.... please, it's just most schools keep the player.

Les Miles = TOAST
....or should be

Report -- Oklahoma State Cowboys players got paid in Les Miles era - ESPN

1.) Many key players are saying the exact opposite, no pay to play
2.) But let's say there was and Les Miles knew or was involved just for the sake of argument.... exactly how is Les toast?
3.) SI actually does not accuse Les of being involved

SI alleges cash payments from coaches, boosters at Oklahoma State - CBSSports.com

"Former coach Les Miles and current Cowboys coach Mike Gundy are not linked directly to any payments documented by SI's reporting. However, the report has multiple players discussing, on the record, violations committed by former Cowboys assistants Joe DeForest and Larry Porter."

So, this is what you have, a SI article saying players were paid, which just happen to be be number of players that were kicked off the team. :) Then you have other news services like ESPN, quoting the SI article and saying Les is implicated, when in fact SI did not accuse Les of doing anything for obvious slander/libel reasons.

Now, Les could have known or could have paid players, I don't know, I was not there, but in no way is Les toast, either way. Now if the article is true, I hope Larry Porter was not doing that at LSU. Since the coaches and the university reported many self-regulated activities including but not limited to the Akeim Hicks housing for pay scheme, then I doubt Les would be involved.

The NCAA could give a rat's butt to be honest. To me the whole NCAA-pro sports situation is a scam anyway.

It's pretty well known that LSU Tiger Pride Hostess' are flaunted toward/on recruits. Several LSU recruit mothers did no like the fact that at receptions the hostess will sit on their sons laps lol. Sex sales guys. However, I think many SEC schools do this.

It was/is an issue, I guess. The NCAA doesn't seem to even care about the Miami or Auburn or anything else so I doubt anything will be done on hostess.

What's the big deal. High School kids have sex all the time. But if they have it with a college student while on an official visit to university it's suddenly against the rules?
