Ok VolNation...Let's talk Oklahoma and Florida (merged)

I can see his point that a throwing QB in a spread attack is in some ways more difficult for the secondary to deal with than a running QB. But, its not like, as he suggests, Tebow will only pass 15-20 times. Gators have been doing that this year because they could -- finally had some productive running backs and a stout defense (not to mention special teams).

But if it turns into a track meet, Florida absolutely can throw the ball 40 times. Done it before and can do it again. And that is what makes it harder I think to prepare for Tebow and Florida, which is to say that the Gators can shift gears as the game demands.

Put it this way: If Tebow ends up with less than 20 passes, its because the game was well in hand throughout.
I wish in past seasons and wonder why you've never been this honest/direct in a UT/UF match-up.

I didn't hear you mention which big 12 team offered up rushing and passing problems for those vaunted Ds over there. Maybe you also have the same sense as Franks and don't understand those kind of problems.

PS. Don't offer up that pathetic OSU team as some kind of passing / running threat. That's a joke.

Damn Big Papa you don't really watch much football do you? I'd say with Dez less than 50% and a quarterback who played with a seperated shoulder the whole half that that is not much of a joke.
I'll stop trying to convince you of anything but please have your TV tuned in Thursday night because you will get all the explaination you need.:dance2:

Is this game going to be like the one 2 years ago when Ohio State was thumped by Florida?

Or will it be close?

Does Oklahoma seriously have the defense to stop Florida??

What are your thoughts?

Oh, and what are the chances of Tim Tebow returning next season??

I'm the only person on the planet that actually thinks Stoops will have a defensive plan to slow the Gators down a bit.

Check the facts and you will find Bradford sat out more in the fourth quarter than Tebow did. He sat for 8 quarters.

I don't watch the Sooners. It was an assumption.
Since you guys had all those close games, I figured you'd have him in.

UT/UF the past few years has been just plain wacky.

In 2006, Florida beat UT much more thoroughly than the score would have suggested. That was not truly a one point game. In 2007, a bit of the opposite happened in that the score made it look worse than it really was (for a half plus about five minutes, anyway).

In 2008, Florida jumped out to a nice lead against UT thanks to kick returns and Crompton picks. The Gators shelved any big play design and basically counted on defense and special teams to win (I haven't looked, but wouldn't be surprised if UT had close to the same time of possession or yardage as Florida).

In all three years, my opinion is that ultimately Florida dominated UT on the lines of scrimmage, due in large part to depth and talent, and especially with Florida's defense and what has turned out, in retrospect, to have been basically an anemic very bad offense for UT throughout.

Its why you made the change you did, and I think you will be much better because of it here fairly shortly. Need the new talent to make it work, and it might take 3 years, but it will happen.

I think the matchup to watch is more the UF defense vs. OK offense. I'm wondering if the Gators will be in the OK backfield as much as they were against OSU two years ago. I will say that the Oklahoma offensive line is one of the best I've seen in college football in years. I do think that Florida can score 30-40 points on OK's defense. The question will be whether they can stop Oklahoma's attack.

I think he'll have the plan, but not the horses to pull the wagon.

Once again Big Papa you are wrong. According to Rivals when all these players were being recruited the fastest man on the field for both teams will be Travis Lewis who happens to play for Oklahoma. Don't take my word for it look it up. 4.34 :)

Your close games kept Tebow in longer. LOL yep, you guys are nothing if not full of class. LMAO

I think we can do atleast as good as Arkansas did when they played the Gators. Casey Dick could have rolled a joint ,smoked it, and still had enough time to get a clean drug test before this vicious bunch got to him.:)

Your just as Florida ignorant as I am Sooner ignorant, buddy.

I believe Tebow threw what, 9 passes in the fourth quarter?

That's not exactly using him.

:eek:lol:

It's quite a phenomenon that players actually get bigger, stronger, and faster when they are in college. Isn't that what a strength and conditioning coach is for? If you want to look at pure recruiting numbers, go ahead, be my guest. There is football speed and then there's track speed. When OU suites up, we'll see how fast they are against a fast defense. Not saying that OU can't win, b/c after all they are electric on offense. I just think Sooner fans are ignoring the speed of Florida or downplaying it in a sense. However, may the better team that night play better.
