you nailed me. I'm being a homer for the team I'm hoping gets pummeled.VolDad thank you for the invite, I appreciate it and do intend to hang around to stay informed on how the Vols go through this transition and to keep my good buddy Big Papa informed of things outside the SEC. ;-)
While it is true defense wins championships that holds true only as long as the offense doesn't score atleast one more point than the team with the great defense.
The biggest hurdle we face is the fact that these long layovers between conference championship games and bowl games seem to affect the offenses much more than the defenses and I believe that has to do with a timing issue. I'm hoping that isn't the case tonight and it doesn't take us until the second half to get things going like it has for most of the teams that have played.
Don't be surprised if tonight you see us play the best defense we have played all year. While the layover might have hurt the offense a bit there is the chance Bob used the extended time to put more of own personal attention on the defensive side of the ball.
That being said I just hope the 2008-2009 Oklahoma National Championship shirt I pick up and sent to BigPapa fits him well and lets the blood flow to his head unrestricted. ;-)
I so want OU to win, but I don't think they have a prayer without some serious UF turnovers.Sadly, I'll go with Florida in a hard-fought, lower-scoring-than-expected contest.
Initially, I actually thought Oklahoma would beat Florida. But that was before Oklahoma announced that DeMarco Murray wouldn't play in the game.

that possiblity does exist, both teams supposedly so offensively explosive, probably spending so much time figuring out how to stop the other..........i can see this being a little lower scoring than i expect. especially if one team gets sloppiy with ball security.
FL has not proven to be sloppy with the ball this year. for them to do that tonight would be against what they've proven to be over the course of the season. and i'm going to be hard pressed to think Harvin is the guy that's going to do it to them.
FL should be fine. the only way, i think, OK has a shot is if FL helps them. FL's D wont' shut OK down, but they have enough def team speed to contain them. and if they can get any pressure (biggest challenge for Fl's D imo) on Bradford, game over.
yep, but so far, i have no reason to believe that OU's offensive line is every bit as good as advertised
I've put a whole lot of thought into this game, and I truly believe that the team that can run the ball, stop the run, control the line of scrimmage, put pressure on the other team's QB, not turn the ball over, force a lot of turnovers, make all their field goals and extra points, cover well on kickoffs and punts, tackle on the first hit, protect the quarterback, manage the clock better, not commit any penalties, and not give up any safeties, touchdowns, or field goals - that team, my friends, will win this game.
