OK VolNation, time to Grade the Class

I just realized that last year's class was ranked 10 last year according to rivals, and as of right now our class is 8. According to the experts this class is more talented than the class last year despite Dooley having only 2 weeks. Not many people would give last years class below an A though.... odd.

I have to say B+. We addressed what needs we could with the time we had. I'm tempted to say A-. I mean, we're going to be at least top 15. Rivals has us at 8 as it stands. I think we end up top 10. That should grade out to A-. I mean A+ would have to be top 3, A 4-8, A- 9-15/17. We really pulled in some impressive talent. True, we didn't get the DT we needed, but we sure got some high quality Oline (even if there aren't many of them) and our skill positions were excellent.

I'm cheering Dooley all the way! Now I hope he can coach us up a system to kick some SEC arse!

The way Dooley handled the situation - A. He pretty much did almost the same thing Kiffin did last year, but in a shorter span of time.

The actual class itself - B-. I would have liked to see some more defensive linemen, and maybe another 5*, but other than that, not a bad class.

Not sure of a grade for the class, but Coach Dooley deserves an A+ for effort. Given the time he had, he did an excellent job. I look forward to seeing what he does next year.

On another note, how does Auburn sign 32? What happenned to the new "Ole Miss" rule? This makes no sense to me, so if anyone has an answer, I'd appreciate an explanation.

CDD did an outstanding job holding this class together. We won't know the final grade of this class for a few years though. With all his effort, I am still under-whelmed with not filling our needs. I don't blame that on CDD though. That blame lies with Kiffin. The real test is not this year, because Kiffin/Orgeron got these players to actually come to Tennessee for a visit, which was Fulmer's biggest problem. Now......can CDD get these same type players to visit next year? IF, and that's a big if, he can, then we have us a coach. We need to finish in the top two or three in the conference to compete for a championship. As it stands now, we are sitting at 6th in the conference........how are you going to challenge UF, LSU, ALA, and now AUB, and maybe UGA if we don't "out recruit" them?

By out coaching them

A

As soon as Kiffin left, most here said our program was automatically sent back 3-5 years. That clealry did not happen. Pending on which outlet uou prefer, our class is 8-13th ranked. Pretty damn good even w/o a coaching change...especially if ya take a recruit's perspectice and look at the recent turmoil and the 2 of last 4 piss poor seasons.

Why are some people more concerned with stars than Ws and Ls?

A-
coach with less than 3 weeks to hold it all together.
picked up Rogers, Huter and Stone who we would not of had shot at, and made up for the few we did lose.

Will end up in top 10 or close, and considering the teams we are behind (FLA, 2 time champ in last few, Texas and Bama, last years contenders, LSU-won in 07) who all are no brainers to be tops, we are right up there. Only Auburn (maybe FSU) has done better on equal or less footing than Tennessee. Take out the Automatic top 4 or so teams that automatically are gonna be higher, we are in great shape. We can't expect to be #1, so we did great. More lineman please.

And don't forget Penn State and Ohio State, who own this region. We're right there w/ PSU and ahead of OSU. And of course, USC is a lock to get a top 5 class in most years.

I give the actual class a B+, brought down only by a weak DT class.

I give Dooley an A+ for effort. He had to get to know each recruit within two weeks, convince others, convince those here to stay, all without a full compliment of coaching staff. Quite impressive.

Guys I think the national media is not giving Dooley enough credit. Honestly, this is an impossible situation. We are thin on talent at so many key positions. Obviously everyone needs to give Dooley an A+, I mean he not only kept our class together, but he improved upon it, and got the players that he should have.

However, as much potential as this class has, we needed impact players NOW. We aren't getting them, and of course there aren't very many to begin with. We have so many holes both offensively and defensively. Please be patient with Coach Dooley because he will take his lumps this year. We simply don't have the talent on the lines and at QB. He took over an impossible situation in my opinion, and he will experience many ups and downs. But this is his first test (of many), and he passed with flying colors.

I would give our class a B+. I would give Dooley an A+. Yes, I know we need DT's bad, but what he did under the circumstances is pretty awesome. We really got some stud players that I'm excited about and I'm hyped at what I think Dooley will do for us. It really was a good feeling seeing him on ESPN, representing our university with nothing but respect. He realizes how special a place UT is, and is not trying to play the it's all about me role. He is going to pull in some great classes for us in the near future, because he is real with who he is. I think recruits will know he is shooting them straight, and that will be another big reason for them to want to play at UTK. ESPN can't help but talk good about us. Have you ever heard them praising us this much? VB :dance2:

8th out 119. I think thats pretty good considering. I posted a thread the night butthead left asking the question "Have we just been bombed back to the stone age?". Obviously we haven't. I also stated all we could hope for was a miracle...Well maybe it's not a big miracle, But considering how I felt 3 weeks ago. Still a pretty good one. I mean if you were almost completely blind and were healed but still needed glasses, You would still be very happy..right? I think that analogy best suits the way I feel about this class. GO NEW VOLS!

who gets an A nationally? Only the top 3 classes? 4? 5?

Shoot, this is a class in the top 15 (right now # 8-rivals)...with over 25 players. Quality + quantity = A. We don't know if any of them will ever play a down...but in competition nationally by ratings of players, it's an A.

I don't think Johnny Majors ever had a class half this good-maybe one at Pitt. Fulmer had a few. For Tennessee, w/ little instate talent? B-? C?

The way you guys grade everything, a class below 20th rated gets **fail**. Maybe I just remember the really C and D (and worse) classes better because I'm so ancient, but I would be happy to get a class like this every year. I'd better shut up before I get the F!! :eek:lol:
