OK VolNation, time to Grade the Class

Talent - B

Needs - D (could have used another OL and 2 or 3 DTs, an SEC level linebacker would be nice too.)

Overall - C+

Overall-C Games are won or lost in the trenches and we really didn't do that well there.

I'd give Dooley an A though for what he and the staff have been able to do in a limited period of time.

LOL at the C's.....I can think of 110 teams or so that would like to have the day we did.

If I had to grade Dooley: A

The Class: B+

Agreed.

We got a solid class, if not spectacular, and Dooley did a great job in the three weeks he had to work with.

I look forward to seeing what he can do in 2011 with a full year to work with.

I give the actual class a B+, brought down only by a weak DT class.

I give Dooley an A+ for effort. He had to get to know each recruit within two weeks, convince others, convince those here to stay, all without a full compliment of coaching staff. Quite impressive.

Let's grade it again in two years. Same for last year's class. We have some talent now let's see if we have the coaches to coach them up and create immediate impact. I was truly disappointed in last season's coaches. Before they left, I was truly concerned for this season. We'll see but I have faith in this group of coaches.

Thinking back about how we felt about what would happen to our class a couple days after Kiffy left I think Dooley has a class that's off the charts.

5th in the SEC?... A weak DL class for the best run conference in the nation?...

NO better than a C. But I'm amazed it isn't worse considering what happened.

The class ended up a lot better than I expected. But there is a difference between the overall rating of your signing class and how well it fits with what you need.

Overall I give us a B+ to A-. But for fitting our needs it's more like a C+ to B-. We are in dire need of DT's. We have LB depth, but not necessarily talent. And we have suspect OL depth and talent.

Given that, I am completely impressed by what Dooley was able to accomplish in 2 weeks. I am excited to see what he can do after having a year to get in front of recruits.

Weak DL class? 4 stars Jacques Smith, Corey Miller, John Brown and 3 Star Martaze Jackson are weak? And he has stated that we are not finished with this class, I believe

Seriously? It's the 8th best class in the country!

I don't get it either. Maybe it's the "I'm a harda$$ macho man grader" virus. The net produces a lot of keyboard warriors whose standards are godlike. Video games syndrome (winners are all that matter and everything has to be perfect or it sux)? I dunno? Would be very strange (pre-internet) to call this class mediocre/average and give it a C grade, IMO. :eek:k: :good!:

Some of you guys are just not looking at things realistically. Yes, we did very well considering the situation we were put in. But you have to look at this class compared to what our competition has done and in terms of filling needs. That is where a class' worth really shows and we fell short there. That 8th place ranking doesn't mean jack crap when it comes to evaluating what we've done in regards to what matters.

This class was a success, considering. But throw that out the window when it comes time to suit up. No excuses.

Run defense this year ranked what? Williams is gone and bad knee Brown. Not knocking both of them but we did not get any worse. Lack of stars ** syndrome kicking in again.

I'm just curious Sab----we've got two scholly's left "in case"---do you realistically think there might be a couple of tackles we could snag at some point?

Kiffin- A for bringing in a great group of EEs

Dooley- B for keeping them here although their choices were limited

Dooley- C+ for recruiting outside of Kiffin's recruits

Overall - B- for a great haul at DB, WR and DE but a disappointing day in the trenches

Yeah,,, been gone a bit but saw what ya said......Pretty sure still maybe 100 teams at least would trade with UT. I agree some interior DL would of been nice. Getting another or two. But at the same time, that is one fire to put out, while there are many more all over the team. Stars and depth at every spot. Now, would I rather have say...Lemonier or someone more than say...Crump or Sapp? Well yeah. Is there a gap between FLA and our class, yes. But like u said, we are 8th, not 18th,28th,38th. 8th. A gap yes, but not something that cant be overcome.
