About Defensive Coordinator. SC just score TDs on 5 consecutive possessions. Multiple 70+ yard drives. 3rd and 4th down conversions. Big chunk plays. No stops. Zero. Zilch. Heupel had major problems with his DC at UCF and was criticized by fans saying he was completely disconnected from the defense. He was spared having to fire Randy Shannon because he got the Tennessee job.

Is this a Jimmy and Joe problem, or is this a failure to scheme and coach the talent that’s here? UT will be ranked in the bottom 5 of 130 teams in pass defense after this game. What is the long term solution?

It’s a Jimmy and Joe problem, but not a big enough problem to get dominated by SCjr.

It can't just be solved by hiring a big name coach (Bob schoop) did absolutely nothing for us.

No? Banks was the most questionable hire Heupel made. He was the "co" DC at Penn State and had never been a DC by himself.

You may not be able to fix it with a name... but you can't fix it by hiring someone who gets outcoached like he has been the last two weeks.

We don't have the worst talent in the secondary in the SEC and country... talent AND COACHING need upgrades on the defensive side.

We all can see what an upgrade in coaching and scheme did for the offense. We don't have the most talent of any team on offense, yet here we are leading the country. Coaching can help tremendously.

Martinez should be gone. Banks should get one more year . . . To see what he can do with a little more talent. If the defense is like this again next year . . . Banks should be fired.

But I don’t think Banks is a championship level DC.

But we need to hit the transfer portal HARD on defense, especially secondary. Those guys try hard, but several of those guys just are not SEC level talent.

Vandy... with Vandy talent held USCe to 284 yds passing for their game.... they have 264 right now in a half vs Banks' D.

I can't say whether Martinez needs to go or not. Banks isn't getting it done even considering the talent deficiencies. Talent doesn't explain what we just witnessed. USCe is NOT more talented on O than UT is on D. They just aren't.
