Ok, we need to have a serious discussion [defense concerns, banks, martinez] (merged)

Banks will probably be successful with better players. Martinez has got to go. The secondary is a joke, not even serviceable. Bad enough the players have no instincts, they can’t do the teachable things like cover and tackle.
banks and martinez coach the secondary. i think they both gotta go. I get we dont have "sec caliber talent" but last night isnt excusable. at all.

Where is Dee Williams? He must be horrible or in the coaches' doghouse if he can't replace what we have on the field now.

Alot of players had bad games, but I'd be ok without ever watching Hadden play another down.

All the crap talking and poor body language actually pisses me off more than losing containment, face mask and holding penalties, and terrible tackling. Its been an ongoing thing with him all season. WRs make him look silly as they consistently catch first downs on him, and all he wants to do is chirp.

I know the excuse is how thin we are at CB, but I've had it with him.

I never want to kick a young man to the curb who wears OR. But he needs to be corrected NOW. Watching Harden make a fool of himself and our team was as embarrassing as the actual football.

Yeah, I didn't actually mean take his scholarship from him. I should've made that clear. I'd clear a nice spot for him on the pine in anticipation for an extended stay.

I was getting fed up with Haden flexing on SC after he gave up 25 yards a clip. Not quite sure what he thought he was doing but all the DB's need to pull their heads out of their rears and play. Georgia created the scab and SC ripped it off. On to the next game and kicking Candy's but.

An audience of one

I don’t think it’s a jimmys and joes problem yeah the guys we brought in arent the best but to be 130-131 in passing defense is terrible, when we hired Banks I did a deep dive on him, the information is right in front of you go back to his record while he was at Illinois, look at what he did in his time there not the greatest given it was Illinois. Ok so he gets a gig as co DC at Penn State I’ll bet he wasn’t calling the plays. Ok so now for Willie Martinez we’ve been through this before look at Cam Sutton good DB but under Willie Mo he regressed over the years IMO. I mean you can add all those guys that went to the NFL and played he coached but at the end of the day I remember when a lot of those guys played here and they were getting burnt up like a pin ball machine that’s why Butch had to show him the door. I will say this 1 thing even though he was here only 1 year I really liked Charlton Warren but I’m not sure he would take a demotion to come back here. Anyways that’s my 2 cents didn’t understand why they didn’t keep Kevin Steele around I thought with his defense and Heupel offense that could of been a good match but what do I know I’m just an observer from a distance.

I agree with your post.

I will say this, if something isn't changed next year, it will be more of the same unfortunately.

corner is the most player-dependent defensive position in college football, but Martinez has a track record of sucking balls.
