Oklahoma to "stripe the stadium"

We don't even offer alcohol in the stadium which to me is weird. Main reason is because of all the young kids. They feel if they offered alcohol it wouldn't be as family friendly even though everyone drinks during tailgating.

Neither do we but UT was also technically a "dry" campus when I was in school, not sure if that still stands. Very few on campus stadiums do, hence why airplane bottles are our friends. My graduate school alma mater Western KY started selling beer in the stadium a yr or two ago because so many people left at halftime to continue tailgating and never returned. Because they allow you to re-enter the stadium with a ticket stub. Since selling beer, the atmosphere is rowdier and folks no longer have to leave to keep thier buzz going.

Their goal isn't to make it bigger and they will make seating bigger (Thank goodness) but they haven't decided 100% on what they're doing. Designs with actual details will be done in a month so we'll know more soon.

Might have been talk, but some folks in the AD were pretty certain it was going to be a full bowl by the time they were done.

Yeah, even with ours being a dry campus they don't give a crap about people who drink while tailgating.

As for the restrooms, there is a mens restroom in section 33.

Yeah, it will be a full bowl. This picture is what they want, but the actual design with specifics such as capacity and architectural things will be done in about a month. I have some people who will be doing some of the construction on it and they are still waiting for OU to release the info for bids, and bids take a month before OU can choose who they want.

Map shows one in section 36. Is it still there?

Okay, just checked my handy 2014 map and it doesn't show a restroom there. I guess it's a staff deal that was only open during our training and wasn't exactly up to par...

Section 33 as the other poster suggested would be the closest.

Personally? I'd tear down the entire south endzone and wrap the remainder around. That section wasn't exactly designed with a bowl in mind. But that's a lot of construction in a minimum amount of time between seasons.

They have to tear down part of it because of the rendering of it not being as tall. I know that they plan on it being started at the end of the 2015 football season and done by the beginning of the 2016 football season. I know the plan is also to build as much as they can off site during the off season this year and to have as much ready as possible to get done right away. Kyle Field got done pretty quickly, not sure exactly if they'll tear it all down on the SEZ but a lot of it will be.

The seating can be torn down easy enough, but you have the locker rooms to consider as well. And no matter what they do, they will tear the practice field all to pieces so that will make summer camp a little entertaining.

Wonder if Norman High will let them use theirs lol

Locker rooms and other stuff are including in the renovations. They plan on tearing down a lot of stuff. They are building a brand new weight room which is much needed. As for the practice field, the current setup has two fields next to each other at the stadium, which one they never use. The other isn't supposed to be touched but with the indoor facility, I'm sure OU won't have too much trouble during the off season.

Seems like everyone wants what the Vols have :)

Looks like they want to make a statement with this game!! Not your typical 21 point favorite game... nothing more than s chance to beat a sec team big....imo

Smart to put the student section on the visitors sideline.

We do the same thing. I'm still fuming from having to deal with cocky Vanderbilt players last year turning and laughing at us at the end of my last game as a student...

Most are by the visitors section if I remember right. I love it. I trying to talk to the opposing players. It's fun getting them to respond to us.

Perhaps. Or, perhaps we love our football and our marquee non-conference games are a point of pride. Just like I'm sure there's a higher than average travel number for you Vols this weekend, there's a higher than average non-conference 21 point spread hype on our side.

Since the early 00's, we've had had home-and-home's with Oregon, Alabama, Washington, UCLA, Miami, Florida State and Notre Dame. I'm sure there's one or two I'm missing as well. But do the math, and that's basically one game per year against a big time, power-5 team. After the Vol home-and-home, we have Ohio State for the next two, and then LSU, UCLA, Nebraska and Michigan.

As far as the striping itself, we did it a couple years ago against Notre Dame, and lost. Then, we did it last year against a middle-of-the-pack WVU and nearly lost. Good omen for you guys.

I appreciate the small modicum of encouragement with the OU game and the tradition of the stripe. However the only OU stripe that is going to give us any pleasure are those hidden in the "Girls of Oklahoma" thread.
