Photo popped up in fb memories. Eight years ago today, #29 Tennessee hosting #8 Alabama. Not much of a crowd. Nick Senzel and Christian Stewart playing. Had one of our kids 8 year old team take the field for the national anthem (I guess UT stopped doing it a couple years ago). Here’s the story about the game: https://utsports.com/story.aspx?filename=tennessee_edged_by_crimson_tide_rally_7_6&file_date=4-19-2014View attachment 448555

Eight years ago. Wow. Seems like yesterday.

I’ve always wanted to see the wild dogs of Botswana.

Didn’t see them. They are almost gone. I was in the Okavango Delta and they were last spotted in the fall. 2 issues: huge pride of lions have moved in-they are literally everywhere-thus killing the dogs and the locals have started killing the dogs because they kill their livestock. Recently however, the Botswanian govt has begun to pay farmers for their lost livestock in hopes that they will not poison the carcasses left that in turn kill the dogs.

Well that is sad.

They’re really hoping that they have moved to a different area for the time being and will reappear, at least in the Delta. 5 years ago, you couldn't find a lion there. Interestingly, the govt moved all the rhinos to a safe zone to protect them from poachers. During covid, safari groups were not operating and poachers went after the rhinos. With the wild dogs being endangered, I would think the govt would do something, but the dogs, unfortunately, don't have the Big 5 appeal.
