Didn't they start a season one year 13-0 back in the 1980s? One of their biggest winning season's of all times when it happened.
Yeah according to what I read, in 1982 they started 13-0 and finished in first place at 89-73. They were essentially a .500 club after that start and eventually lost in the NLCS to the Cardinals.

More conspiracy about baseballs. Pretty interesting, but what can you do?

I’m not really into conspiracy theories but the baseballs have changed, even if it is a slight change. But the biggest change is the philosophy on hitting over the past 10+ years. It’s all about launch angles and going for extra base hits. It’s the same thing that happened whenever basketball teams started utilizing analytics for the 3 point shot. Nobody shoots the mid range like they used to because the risk/reward doesn’t warrant that shot any longer. It’s all about layups/dunks and threes. Baseball is all about strikeouts and doubles/home runs. The only time they care about singles is if it’s a crucial moment in the game and you just need a run to get in any way you can.

Time to brush up on your pitch recognition.

This is more for the people that refer to opposing pitchers as throwing junk. And all of Tennessee's pitchers as fantastic.

The only thing I will add to this video is that a pitcher can make a 2 seam fastball move in either direction, just by putting more pressure on the right or left seam.
When my son first started pitching, he had two coaches that played in the MLB (Yankees and Braves). They would not teach the kids how to throw a curve to protect their arms, just how to make a 2 seamer dance with pressure. When the batters are seeing breaking balls for the first time, it doesn't take much movement to make them swing and miss.

Are you near Knoxville?
I may know that former Yankee??
I have a funny story to tell about it.
GBO!!

Is anyone gonna to do any type of pick’em for the CWS?
If I had the time commitment to put that together and tabulate everything, I would be open to doing it. I just don’t really have the extra time to be in charge of that unfortunately. If someone does decide to do it, they could use a simple points system where each round increases by say 5 points?

No it was in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Well, I’ll share my story anyway.
When my oldest daughter was little, myself and another dad volunteered to coach tee ball.
We had a brother and sister, with the brother being much younger but the only way he would play was if he were on his sisters team. This kid could not hit off the tee at all! His sister then tells me that I have to pitch to him. I lobbed some into the little guy and he just stands there. Sister tells me to throw it harder and faster, I do and this little guy starts hammering the ball! He’s in the field snagging balls like Ozzie Smith! I spend the rest of the practice and the next, critiquing his batting stance, how to throw, field...
Finally after the 2nd practice, I was talking to another dad about how good this little guy is. The dad says to me, you know who’s boy that is, right?
That’s his boy and points to the stands, where I see the guy that just pitched for the Yankees and was the first guy to start 10-0 in like forever!!!
Needless to say, I quit trying to “coach” his boy and just started encouraging him!
I could only imagine him telling his son, on the way home from practice, “now he’s a good guy and I want you to act like you’re paying attention to your coach, BUT DO NOT LISTEN TO A THING HE TELLS YOU!!😂
I got to know the guy and he is one of the best men I’ve ever met! Super good guy and great family!
