My dad taught and coached him. He is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Dad played golf with him in later years and Bruce came to his funeral last year. A very unassuming man that just acts like a regular guy in Williamsburg.

What I know about Chaz Lanier...he’s from North Florida and holds our single season 3pt record.

Won’t help his draft status. The NBA drafts on young potential. If DK went at 17 Lanier will be lucky to get taken in the first two

Nice to hear...I never had the pleasure to meet him, but have seen him live (back in the day)...good to hear he is nice in person...glad you enjoyed that...have you seen his version of this GREAT song with Goose? SORRY...but i just can't get enough of such a seminal...and often forgotten song of the '80s...

Well, I did have a slight buzz going but, after the BaseVols took the series, from Bama, and the BasketVols advanced to the Sweet 16, how could you not be buzzing?
Also, my dad was that way. He had a very sarcastic sense of humor. People either loved him or hated him but, once they got to know him, most loved him.

I completely get it. I personally enjoy those twos banter back and forth. Characters make the forum more interesting for sure! Enjoy the time with your family.

Yep, but I totally get his point. Lofton was an all-time VFL who played his entire career at UT. I love Lanier and hear he’s awesome off the court as well but he’s a one year player vs a legend.

It’s not like he wanted to play at North Florida. That was pretty much his only option out of high school. Same with Knecht. Wasn’t his fault he was looked past.

All great points but it still doesn’t change the fact that many Vol fans will always have a greater fondness for the VFLs like Trey Lipscomb’s, Blake Burke‘s, Drew Gilbert’s, Evan Russell’s, Christian Moore’s, Kirby Connell’s, Zander Zechrist’s, Drew Beam’s, Jared Dickey’s, etc. than the one-year players. Heck, I love them both but TN has 2 studs this year that are playing for their 3rd team in 3 years. Just doesn’t hit home the same way for many of us.

Outside of the St. John’s upset yesterday, this has been one of the more uneventful tournaments in recent memory. There aren’t any real Cinderella’s left unless Colorado State or New Mexico win. Arkansas is the lowest seed through to the Sweet 16 but they are from a power conference. Also, no buzzer beaters. Gonzaga had an opportunity but failed miserably.
