1 and 2 went undefeated all year. I just don't see how anyone could justify putting them in.

Exactly. If I was betting money, I would pick USC over Auburn. We really don't know though. Lots of weird **** happens. As a Titans fan, I watched the music city miracle. As a Gator fan, you watched a Michigan team that lost to App. St. beat the Gators in a bowl game.

USC probably would have won but things change game to game and match up wise.

Auburn went undefeated too and I believe they had the #1 defense.

When looking at the bigger picture... SEC seems to be better than the Pac 10 and Big 12 this decade.

You can't just say USC would beat Auburn without playing.

In that case... the Patriots beat the Giants. Undefeated. Giants had no chance...

Edit: Patriots beat the Giants towards the end of the season too. Around week 15 or so. They shouldn't have played the game. We know who the winner was.

I don't see how anyone can give a preseason poll validity in deciding a championship.

This was before the recent reign of dominance by the SEC. It wasn't as strong then. If number 1 and 2 go wire to wire then they deserve to be in the championhip game regardless of who else is undefeated.

In this case though, USC has been declared ineligible.

Not to mention... I read tons of stories about Pete Carroll inviting agents into the locker room. That's how he knew to jump ship.

It's not a legit team when you're involved in getting agents to pay recruits. I firmly believe Carroll was. How else did he know to leave for an awful NFL team? He could have left the year before or the year before that. Pete Carroll isn't stupid.

Either way.. Auburn was undefeated and allowed the fewest points in the country.

All I know is, I don't know that USC would beat them head to head.

At least you agree that USC isn't co-champions with LSU though. They didn't play in the championship game.

USC now has zero championships altogether this decade. :)

Yeah that's Lsu's championship. And technically they don't have one, but we all know it happened.

We all know Pete Carroll invited agents into the locker room too.

We also know that they didn't play the #1 defense(undefeated) team in the country as well.

It's like the Steelers in the 70's. Sure they won the Super Bowl. They were also the only team juicing as a whole.

Congrats to USC for compiling the top recruits by cheating.

That's exactly why the championship was stripped. It wasn't a legit roster and all those kids don't go there without money under the table.

Sec! Sec! Sec!

This is like calling the Pac-10 weak because a team like Oregon loses to Boise State two years in a row. Conferences are judged by the big boys. Fact is, the SEC has 6 of 11 BCS championships with 4 different teams. They've actually never lost a BCS NC game. USC can claim 1 (not technically but honestly). The fact that they are out of the big bowls will do more damage for the Pac's national image than anything. Oregon couldn't even beat Ohio State. Come talk trash when your team wins something important.

The difference is the fact that Boise is a top 5 team. JSU is an FCS team. That was an absolutely idiotic comparison

No, they were unranked when you played them in 08 and you were ranked higher last year. Regardless, you missed the point. Oregon and Ole Miss are equally irrelevant at the end of the day. Neither ever live up to their hype.

It may be completely irrational, but I think this was the kharma wheel turning on Ole Miss. They've allowed the reputation of thier school to be tarnished and they still lost. Sweet justice, IMO.

if 1 and 2 go wire to wire then how can a team jumping them be justified?

Your argument is terrible. You're basically saying that the preseason polls is where everyone starts, and after that strength of schedule does not matter. It's just a ladder where you only move down if you lose. Unfortunately, a lot of people vote that way. A big problem with the current system for determining the champion is the argument you just made.
