yea auburn was stacked that yr they coulda surprised the world like we did against ohio st.
who knows? but i agree auburn was robbed that yr ronnie brown and caddy was a sick duo
1 and 2 went undefeated all year. I just don't see how anyone could justify putting them in.
Auburn went undefeated too and I believe they had the #1 defense.
When looking at the bigger picture... SEC seems to be better than the Pac 10 and Big 12 this decade.
You can't just say USC would beat Auburn without playing.
In that case... the Patriots beat the Giants. Undefeated. Giants had no chance...
Edit: Patriots beat the Giants towards the end of the season too. Around week 15 or so. They shouldn't have played the game. We know who the winner was.
This was before the recent reign of dominance by the SEC. It wasn't as strong then. If number 1 and 2 go wire to wire then they deserve to be in the championhip game regardless of who else is undefeated.
In this case though, USC has been declared ineligible.
Not to mention... I read tons of stories about Pete Carroll inviting agents into the locker room. That's how he knew to jump ship.
It's not a legit team when you're involved in getting agents to pay recruits. I firmly believe Carroll was. How else did he know to leave for an awful NFL team? He could have left the year before or the year before that. Pete Carroll isn't stupid.
Either way.. Auburn was undefeated and allowed the fewest points in the country.
All I know is, I don't know that USC would beat them head to head.
At least you don't agree that USC isn't co-champions with LSU though. They didn't play in the championship game.
USC now has zero championships altogether this decade.
Yeah that's Lsu's championship. And technically they don't have one, but we all know it happened.
Sec! Sec! Sec!
This is like calling the Pac-10 weak because a team like Oregon loses to Boise State two years in a row. Conferences are judged by the big boys. Fact is, the SEC has 6 of 11 BCS championships with 4 different teams. They've actually never lost a BCS NC game. USC can claim 1 (not technically but honestly). The fact that they are out of the big bowls will do more damage for the Pac's national image than anything. Oregon couldn't even beat Ohio State. Come talk trash when your team wins something important.
The difference is the fact that Boise is a top 5 team. JSU is an FCS team. That was an absolutely idiotic comparison
if 1 and 2 go wire to wire then how can a team jumping them be justified?
