Ole Miss vs Tennessee

Not to mention our common opponent in Arkansas......
I get it!!! I am not against you here. I think if we finish out with only 2 losses we should be in, but you can't honestly say we are a better team RIGHT NOW than they are. We can't blaim it on refs.... or committees....or anyone. If we had beaten a TERRIBLE Arkansas team this wouldn't matter. All we can hope for is to win out at this point and see where the chips fall. I personally think if we win out we are still getting in, because there will be a couple more losses from teams ahead of us.
Both teams played KY, no?

I'm confused why there is this whole brew haha about us vs Ole Miss as if we are the two finalists for 1 spot....

We lost to Georgia, who Bama and Ole Miss beat.....

For us to be compared to Ole Miss, we have a Georgia problem as they are ranked ahed of us but behind Bama and Ole Miss.

While I think that pecking order is pretty much set the rest of the way out (Texas, Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, and then Tennessee), I will be eager to see what happens if Vandy beats LSU and if we beat Vandy in a blow out.

I don't think we have to make the case over Ole Miss. I think we need help from non SEC teams which is nice. Anything that happens intra SEC is just icing on cake.

The committee is telling us what they are looking at, and they are typical 2024 Americans with short attention spans and display recency bias. There is no denying that Ole Miss has been playing better than UT the last few weeks, and there is also no debate that UT’s resume is better than theirs. We have our answer about what they value most.

As I remember, Fulmer always played Kentucky, Vandy, a homecoming bum or two, and Mississippi State in November.
Arkansas was a November opponent though the mid and late 90s (Hand of God fumble game was November). Also played Notre Dame a couple of home/home series in November plus a home and home with Miami in the early 2000s and played LSU in November at least once in November. But yes, Vandy and KY were constant “end of year easy wins”.

Just win the final two and see how it plays out. Florida may best ole miss and A&M will beat Texas
No no no!!! We need Texas to beat A&M. A&M is behind us. They beat Texas and they jump us and Texas doesn't fall below us. Let Texas give the aggies a third loss and eliminate them.

Best win: ole Miss -Ga; Tennessee -Ala. Tennessee winner cause Bama beat Ga AND committee themselves rate Alabama over Ga.

Losses: Ole Miss- @home vs Ky & @ LSU. Tennessee- @ Ark & @ Ga. Winner- Tennessee no home losses& Ark & Ga are better than Ky & LSU.

Something isn’t right with OM rated above Tennessee.
Ole Miss would beat us like an ugly dog

KY was a common opponent. KY is 1-6 in the SEC and beat ole miss at ole miss.

Ole Miss's two losses - KY and LSU - ara a combined 4-9 in SEC play
TN's two losses - Arkansas and ga - are a combined 9-6.

They beat UGA 10 days ago by 18. We lost to UGA 3 days ago by 14.
I see how Vegas makes so much money.

You really think OM beats Ga in Athens after coming off a loss with them on the “first one out” list?

Ole Miss has two strong wins in UGA in resounding fashion and a surging South Carolina team....

It also doesn't help that UGA and Beck bounced back the following week to beat us in our worst defensive game all season.... That just makes Ole Miss shutting down UGA even more of a big deal.

I just fail to see why people are taking issue with Ole Miss of all teams in the playoff standings as if it is down to either Ole Miss or Tennessee.

Why do you think TAMU beats TX? TX is a much better team.

Texas hasn't really shown anything vs a formidable team... THey got curb stomped by UGA to the point where Arch had to come in for 2 series just for Texas to shake things up....

Texas has benefited for a weaker schedule, but I think they are riding recency bias by making title game last year and having Ewers returning....

I could see a scenario where A&M beats them and then you have a convo of 1 spot being argued between Texas, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.....

We really haven’t been all that impressive in our SEC wins. Going scoreless in the first half against unranked teams is not a good look.

Yet the last 5 teams to not allow opponents to score more than 20 points in their first 9 games won a natty.... So it goes both ways.... Not like we have floundered.... We still hold one of the best defenses in the country. Even if we had brain worms this past weekend by rushing only 4 down after down

You also have to consider that stat holds true because two wins led to a national championship. If we were in contention for one of the top four spots that stat might help.
