I was thinking the same thing. This place is obsessed with Vandy. The posters will tell you they aren't and that Vandy doesn't matter, but here is a 64 page thread about their game.

It's what happens on internet forums when a team loses to another the year before. I know it's out of the ordinary to see this behavior from UT fans toward Vandy. That's not because it's some strange new dynamic in college fandom. It's because Vandy has only beaten UT twice since internet forums were invented.

(I'll take a moment to let that sink in... lol Twice since the interwebz were invented.)

We will spank them this year. Their fanbase will quieten down. We'll forget them.

All will be well in the world.

To be fair, it was the first night of college football. There were about 4-5 games on.

If this were a normal Saturday with other SEC games on, there's no way this thread would have had as much action.

But I agree this place is too obsessed with Vandy right now.

As Crush said, it has only happened twice in the last 30 years. Plus, it was only one of a handful of games on last night. It was also entertaining. Like a college arena league game. I thought I was watching UT's defense from 2012 play for both sides.

As for Vandy, this is the reason I have contempt for them. They win once every blue moon and then talk more sh*t than a Bama fan that has won 3 titles in the last 4 years.

Not to mention it was the first SEC matchup of the year. It's not like any other game will be talked about like this one was. Some people just don't understand I guess.

You need to up your posts per page count. Mine only has 32 pages, which makes it seem not quite as bad...

You're right...I don't understand the Vandy obsession. I'm willing to bet anything you want if the 1st SEC match-up was Ole Miss vs. Missouri there wouldn't be anywhere near the attention.

You may be right but I still think it being the first SEC matchup had something to do with it. And you also have to remember that many of us are from Nashville. And being from Nashville have some friends and family members who are vandy fans. And the ones I know love to talk trash and act like Franklin has made them one of the big dogs in the SEC now. I have a friend who legitimately thought they were going to win the east this year and beat 2 out of 3 of GA, FL, and SC. So for me it's fun to see him get yanked back down to reality and come back with his tail between his legs. But why is it a big deal either way? You may not care if they win or lose but I personally hope they lose every game. If it makes you cooler to not care about them at all then so be it, no skin off my teeth, so I don't know why how others feel about it bugs you so bad. They are in the same state and conference as us and have realized a little bit of success lately. So obviously some are going to be interested in what happens to them. Obsession is a strong word tho. We are not obsessed with them like Alabama is with Auburn or visa-versa.
