Ole Miss vs Vandy @ 9:15

Scenes from tonight...

Dude up top, in the light blue shirt, is the only long term Vandy fan in that picture. His smile says... "I KNEW it was gonna happen. No surprise. I hate it, but I saw it coming."

The young man played his heart out. I would be upset too

Now for the Vandy fans, I could care less. I enjoy their tears

I remember when Vol fans couldn't care less about the outcome of an Ole Miss and Vandy game... signs of the times I suppose.

Its definitely not my father's Vandy. But it's also not quite the phenomenon that its being portrayed as.

This.

They don't suck, because yeah if they did they'd lose some of the crappy non-conference games they play, and old Vandy would have found a way to do so (see MTSU 2005).

But acting like Franklin is creating some SEC Stanford is silly. If anything I give credit to Vandy for finally being smart in scheduling OOC opponents they can definitely beat; old Vandy for some reason would still usually play pretty good opponents, like Notre Dame and Michigan.

If anything, Vandy is benefiting from the modern setup, that you almost have to try to not make a bowl game.

After super fly (wt 165lbs) went 75yds (ole miss always seems to have one of those type players) one could see the air was sucked out of that "stadium" and there was one big ole massive face palm. A dexter mccluster redux.   BTW, ole miss started only five seniors.

I was tailgaiting at Vandy to celebrate college football getting started. I proudly wore my UT shirt and hat and only got heckled by one or two people. I simply responded to each of them by saying..... you guys are having your open practice a little later than we do. :)

While talking to a former Vandy player he asked "do you bash Vandy"? I said no I dont . He kept asking the same thing over and over again and finally I told him ....why would I bash Vandy when its so easy to do? That would be like taking candy from a baby. I told him he knew all the things that could be said and there was no need for me to repeat it. All in all he was a cool dude but its like Vandy fans want to be reminded of how terrible there past is. We tailgated right beside the stadium and I must say, it truly is a sad pregame environment compared to Knoxville. Even their little walk to the stadium through "Vandyville" is so pitiful. People were so excited that they lined the street waiting on them to enter, sometimes there were two to three people deep :birgits_giggle:. To finish, I simply got a refresher course on why Vandy is and always will be ...Vandy. Sad.

Neither team looked particularly good last night, both will be lucky to win 6. Vandy could with their non-existent OOC schedule.

On a side note. I see now why we didn't recruit Wallace.

Matthews is a man. All respect to him and the effort he gave. Not sure what the take away is from the game.

Ole Miss's oline was atrocious in the first half and Vandy's D looked good. Second half they blocked better and Vandy's D looked horrible. Leads me to believe the first half was Ole Miss not executing as opposed to Vandy imposing their will.

Vandy's QB looked good at times. I imagine he will have some great games and some terrible ones because he doesn't seem consistent. If you hold Matthews in check they will struggle to score.

Vandy is missing Zac Stacey a lot.

Ole Miss's freshman are very good. Treadwell and Conners are studs.
