I’m not sure Uros is ever going to make that jump as a rebounder. He has developed offensively and fundamentally, but rebounding seems to be more of a mindset and you see it early from guys who attack the glass. A 7’ center who can’t rebound or block shots at a high clip is a liability on the court, and there’s really no way around that.
There is no excuse for his rebounding inadequacy.

Unless you play zone and who does that anymore?

One more post demonstrating your insatiable appetite for arguing yet I still occasionally fall into the trap. That Arkansas guy is possibly the slowest dude I’ve ever seen.
Not at all, I asked you

“How many 7’+ 250lb+ guys that play on an uptempo team and are effective can you think of? If any, they are probably projected lottery picks.”

And you proceeded to name guys who didn’t fit that and tried to claim them as an example, how’s that my fault?

Now, let’s dream a bit more. Can Uros have that same kind of improvement as ON? I have heard some say UP is a wasted scholly, the same comments made about ON. Don’t know his ceiling but we know height can’t be taught. I went to school with Kosmalski and he was definitely a big man, but had a ceiling and we saw it. I read that Boerwinkle was not much except tall in his early career and developed into a solid NBA player. The future is bright again for TN bb.

Lenny Kosmalski averaged 20 ppg and 8 rpg as a sophomore (freshmen weren’t eligible). He was also a 76% FT shooter that year.

Bob Brykalski had similar size but never developed. Lenny had skills.

Claiming the Arkansas guy is more mobile than Uros is what I was referencing. Put up a thread on here with a pole asking which one is more mobile and include video of both guys. I’ll send you a Benjamin if the majority doesn’t say the Arkansas guy is slower.

As for the guys I named, Silva sure played to the speed of UT last season and was quite successful. Karnowski was the Jabar pow I thought and I don’t recall the Zags being complete plodders.

One game doesn’t prove a point, and that game wasn’t all that uptempo…Purdue trots those goes out there but they also play a really slow tempo. Like I said there aren’t many/if any of those guys, if you have to go back 6 years to find 1 guy that fits the mold that literally is proving my point.

Switching gears a little BTO. Do you think Aidoo will have a role in the upcoming games? Does he have a skill set offensively at this point or is more of rim protector/rebounder?

Not sure we see him this year and definitely don’t think soon in any upcoming games…more of a rim protector right now than anything.

I have you 3 guys not one and 2 we played against last year. No need to be disingenuous.

I’ve said for three years now that he has the capacity to be a Grant Williams…. Every year I prayed he would have patience, continue to learn, and not transfer! YAY GLAD TO SEE SERIOUS DEVELOPMENT

GW for his size was very nimble and had great touch - one of the best inside scorers we've ever had. OAN in no way compares to Grant - sorry.
Putting up a bagel today should put that notion to rest.

Believe it or not, Olivier is the only UT player Barnes praised in his radio interview with Kesling. Kinda gave Vescovi one of his patented backhanded compliments, but that was about it

Sounds like kid gloves for ON

Putting too much weight on early results is a tricky angle to take. Let the dust settle and we will have a clearer picture of a number of players. ON is probably the most intriguing player as far as future possibilities. I’m also hopeful that JJJ and Fulky will really turn it around. Until more results come in, we wait, and hope. I’m also not going to get myself too worked up over whatever today’s results might be.

Agreed unless you have offense like Dirk and we know that isn't the case.

Uros issue is he is slow footed, can't get off the ground good and is often out of position. He's still in the developmental stage of bb iq and feel for the game.

He looks like he spent the entire off season doing military presses. His shoulders are getting large.
