resounding no, not even close. Maybe 20th about where Vandy and Kentucky will be.

So Vandy and Kentucky will crack the top 25? Something they haven't done recently and rarely, if ever, actually do. Kentucky seems to struggle cracking the top 50 and Vandy the top 75. At least you're hopeful and positive about a couple programs out there. :good!:

It's not that we can't.

It's just the way Rivals rates their guys will hurt us some. You see how Rivals gives each team like 2,000 points or whatever for their recruits?

Well, skill position players get more points than lineman even if they are rated the exact same.

Example: a 5.8 4star QB is going to gain more points than a 5.8 4star OT.

Ah...I didn't know that...I thought it was the same across the board

I believe that CDD was the right choice by UT. Period, with no reservations. That said no I don't think that his class will be highly ranked. These last 2 classes got artificially high ranks because of the attention Kiffin brought to the program. Not even saying they didn't deserve their ranks just saying that in my experience following UT football players that sign with us get low marks because it seems like UT doesn't get a lot of respect from the pundits. I truly believe that if say Bama or UF or even Kiffin had the same 5 guys committed we do they would be more highly rated. Trust me guys got a few extra points for committing to Kiffin because he had a highly touted "recruiting" staff Fulmer started getting lower grades because he had a streak of underachieving classes.

These guys that go out and rank classes have memories. if you have a history of recruiting classes and overachieving they will give they guys you bring in the benefit of the doubt. this is in respect to early commits only for the simple fact that if you get some guys whose jocks they have been riding all season to sign last minute they can't change tack but if you get guys to sign early they will get ranking based partially on their performance but also on your staff's past performances.

So given this staff has no real track record No I don't think It will be highly ranked because of these things. I think the class will be solid and will help us move ahead. Also I prefer a class in the 20's to temper expectations. If we went out and got the number 1 ranked class and still only won 9 or 10 games in '11 people would run Dooley out of town on a stake for no good reason. It takes a few classes to recover from the mess we are in no matter how highly ranked. As long as our class addresses needs I am fine with it.

Do you people seriously think hes going to pull a top 10 class?

I am all for optimism but wow, thats pushing it.

Top 15 is going to be tough, top 25, most likely.

You are all setting yourself up for major disappointment expecting a top 10 class.

I think he could suprise some people. Maybe he won't get a top 10 class this year but I could see 11-13th. It all depends on if our coaches can close like they did last year.

We finish 9th and SGM and his crew complain, saying "Kiffin would have pulled a top 5."

8-15. I think if we're going after more top talent than most think such as Drew, Martin, Wright, Arnett, Hayes, and more. These players will be 4* if not 5* players and we're in good position with a lot of them. Because of that I think we'll have a legit shot at getting them and these players will make our class either the top 15 if not the top 10.

What would lead you to believe that such a comment would be in error, were it to be made?

On the record, I would say that it might be an error due to how poorly he was doing last year before with OL recruits before he left and now we are in a huge hole on positions that normally do not have as many stars. If we sign 4-5 OL guys and 4 of them are 3 stars but are still the top OL guys in the country DD has done a great job. It's not his fault Kiffin couldn't pull down last year, before he left, some of the need postions for us.

I'm not sure that I follow this.

Are you saying that Kiffin would not have pulled in a Top 5 class in 2011, had he stayed at Tennessee, or not?

My mind is like a sponge for different ideas, but it can't soak up every bullet you shoot at it.

Break it down for me, Uncle Sam.

No I do believe he would have pulled a top 5 class or atleast 6 last year. That I will honestly say. My point is he was not doing well all year long finding OL guys and it was appearing that we would still have to, even under Kiffin, be recruiting a whole lotta OL guys for 2011. OL guys normally don't have as many stars. Due to this fact, I don't believe the class would be any higher than 8 or 9, no matter who is coach. Because the guys we need now aren't the big star kinda guys. WR's, RB's (if BB stays) we're pretty much set at and won't be pulling a ton this year. This hurts in the star rankings because those guys are the ones who can get to 4 stars easier. WE need DL, DE, OL, more than anything else. This will hurt how high we end up, in my opinion. Kiffin put us in this situation also.

Perhaps you see where I am puzzled by your latest comment, stating your belief that Kiffin would have pulled in a Top 5 class, in comparison to the one above it.

Wouldn't someone be justified in Dooley landing a 9th place class, when by your own admission, Kiffin could have landed a Top 5 class?

What makes Dooley's inability to match Kiffin somehow acceptable?

No I'm talking last year. I believe Kiffin would have pulled a 5 class. I do disagree with LV. DD pulled a 9 class last year with all the crap that happened. I do not believe Kiffin would pull a 5 class this year. I believe he would pull roughly the same class DD would this year, maybe 1 better if any. I also believe in 3 years from now, DD will be pulling straight top five classes almost every year. I think you miss understood my words. In no way do I think Kiffin is a better recruiter than DD. We'll see if I'm wrong. DD is also in a much tougher situation that Kiffin was. Kiffin took over from a legend who was being fired and DD is taking over a program that looks to be in total chaos. All schools have to either deal with a coach leaving or firing a coach. This is normal and doesn't destroy a schools name. Kiffin lit a bomb and walked away.
