One bad thing on Butch

And was only accurate on the roll out. Kiff discovered it eventually.

Kiffin told us day after day it wasn't just Crompton. He said that the wrs was responsible for alot of his struggles. None of our fans believed it then. We hear the same thing again, and our fans still think they know better than a coach.

yes, rolling out helped, but the wrs started running better routes. Who is to say that CBJ can't get Worley better. Its game 3

In the end wouldn't have mattered a bit.

So we score another TD or 2. Still a loss. Still a butt whipping.

Do you think losing all depth at slot receiver 3 days before the game has any relevance?

Sustaining drives kills clock and gives them less time to score

and if Worley had or does start to click mid way through the season like Crompton did in 09 everyone would cry about Butch wasting a year of Dobb's eligibility so he could throw a pass against APSU.

Crompton was a top 2 QB coming out of HS with an above average arm. Not a mid-tier, system QB with a noodle for an arm.

People need to understand CBJ only priority this year is to make it to a bowl game if possible. It's a throw away year. Yes he will try to win unwinnable games but he won't risk the programs future (read Dobbs or Ferguson) on them.

That's a relief.

RIGHT HERE
:furious3:

Right here, with the same mentality? That was more the question, if someone is full butch without any doubt he will bring UT back to glory, and then is fired in 3 to 4 years, do you still think butch was still the answer or do you just move the same feelings to the new HC?

I thought you meant jumping on another bandwagon. Some fans can't handle it so they become bama fans. It makes them feel good! I will support whoever they put in as HC. Right now it just so happens to be Butch and I like him more than the last 2!

Really wish he would've gave all our QBs playing time in the first three games. I know hindsight is 20/20 as I was pulling for Worley. But if CBJ knew he was this bad he should have found the answer with our first two games instead of running vanilla offense and not preparing for the later part of the season. Eff the redshirts. Play somebody who will at least keep the damn ball on a read option or don't run the option. That's being as hard headed as it gets. I can't stand to watch us telegraph our run plays. How many times has half the field been vacant of defenders and yet Poorly still hands it off. C'mon man

We have a very delicate situation going on right now with all 3 freshman qbs. I think BJ has started Worley because he thought Worley gave us the best chance to win now. While everybody (including myself now) says lets start a freshman and build for the future, I also see why he would play the qb who gives us the best chance to win now. At the end of the season loses to teams like WKU, S. Bama, Kentucky, etc, would make holding on to a top rated recruiting class a nightmare. The only problem I have is according to BJ the qb race was so close that I cant imagine the other qbs not being able to make at least the same amount of plays in the air and we know they have more ability to run. Its a $hitty situation but im pretty sure BJ is most qualified person to make it. I have to believe he knows whats best.

Do you realize we have a significant number of walk-ons in our 2 deep rotation?

We just got whipped by the fastest team in the NCAA. Depth is a HUGE factor.

Give him time to fix it and he will.
The defense held it down first quarter. I am not we would have won the game, the offense didn't give us a chance. The defense did just got tired.

the two true freshman have not practiced UT system since August. With game prep, no time each week to give them reps. So they are a long way from being ready to go into a game

Well, I don't necessarily see eye to eye on the redshirt issue, as they are valuable, but I *do agree if we didn't have a run threat QB, we should have just been running more standard power SEC type run plays.

Thanks for the laugh.

Butch didn't want to destroy Worley's spirit, not to mention, Worley was the next in line so Butch gave him a chance. Ever heard of the old adage "we won't know what we got until we put the kids in a live game." Well, there is a difference. Now Butch has seen enough and that's why he's opening up the QB competition.
GO VOLS!

You are forgetting how truly awful Crompton was in 2008 and the first few games of 2009.

You are forgetting that Crompton actually had the tools to get the job done. He had a rocket arm and was pretty athletic. AJ Suggs was more talented than Justin Worley.

So you're willing to mortgage any future stability at the position (by redshirting one or more at QB) for what? Maybe one more win...

Obviously Butch knew it was bad, but after seeing the look on his face in the second half last week and after the game (seen the famous pic of him and Hart looking like they just walked out of Dr. Hulk Hogan's procotology clinic?) I don't think even he knew how bad it really was.

He had seen the talent issue at practice, but I don't think he'd really seen first hand the amount of Dooleystank that's still in the heads of this team. Until they're losing, then it rears it's ugly head (with it's perfectly styled hair). You just can't wipe off a losing attitude and weak spirit.

You do realize that colleges usually sign at Least one quarterback per year. So yes I'd take the red shirt off both of them if it meant one more win. You play the game to win end of story.

Ok but I don't understand running this read option and handing the ball off every single time. If whorley is gonna be the qb. Play to his strengths. Why not take advantage of our o line and run right at them

would know how to spell our QB's name....
