One Thing Is Painfully Obvious About This Team...

You guys know how much I dislike McBee, but it seems that he's turned a corner. I did see him get burned once tonight, but he mostly played solid defense and made some wide-open 3s. In my book, I'm much happier with him.

That is really all he needs to do to contribute nicely

He let the kid blow by toward the baseline when he forced him the wrong way. That was more of a mental lapse.
I said to myself, " that dude that hates skylar will post about that play tonight".

Haha I'm sure that was the play I was referring to. I will hate sometimes, but I will absolutely give credit where it's due always. Keep it up, McBee - I like what I'm seeing.

Oh yeah, that was Ray Mears at center court when the lineups were announced right? I don't know what he looks like.

Washpun will be fine, he is a Freshman and is still a little doe eyed right now. As the season goes on he will settle down, he is just pressing right now. He can dribble and is not looking to shoot first, thats atleast a good start.

I think it was General Neyland there to be recognized on Veterans Day.

Washpun just needs some PT. He is a freshman. But we need him to get better. We need another PG besides Golden for about 10 minutes or more a game.

Washpun looked gosh awful at times imo. My observations are that the recruits that were brought in this year do not appear to be of SEC calibre. We will have to recruit better talent or this staff will be short lived I am afraid. The team appears well coached and the starting 5 and tops subs will continue to get better with playing time so I think we will at least be competitive the next couple of years.

We have enough talent and are coached well enough to surprise some people. We will not surprise the top teams in the SEC but should be able to fight for a spot in the middle of the SEC.

If we shoot anywhere close to what we did tonight we will definately not finish 11th in the SEC. CQM will do fine at coaching and floor decisions -- I am still anxious to see if he can recruit anyone that can help us.

I agree about the newcomers. Washpun can jump like a MF'er, but Yemi looks lost and it's still hard to believe he is coming off the bench before DM (not saying I don't trust Zo's decision, I just thought DM was better than Yemi for the immediate time being).

I thought Washpun would be a bit quicker than he looks at this point as well. I still feel like Richardson is the only "SEC calibur" player in the bunch, but here's to hoping the rest prove me wrong. I was really hoping Washpun would run the offense a little better, or at least not be a TO machine. I also thought he was going to be a lock down defender, and I haven't seen that yet. He does have a freaking mammo verticle, but without the bball IQ, it is almost a liability. Someone pump fakes on him and he is nearly in orbit and air traffic controllers start flipping out for a sec. I hope he develops more than I expect this season.

As for TG... that kid completely changed his body and his game in one off season. People forget that his Jr year in HS he was a top 10 player in his class and he is showing off that talent big time. His range has gotten nasty, his handles are tight like a tiger, his defense is stellar, and his decision making is uber impressive. TG is playing at an extremely high level, and I look forward to seeing how he matches up against the likes of Walker, Rivers, etc. JM's defense really impressed me today as well. He has a knack for getting in the passing lanes and this team will need to do well in the t/o ratio to have success in the former East division outside of SC and UGA. Maymon has looked like an elite, undersized(height) PF, and I am curious to see how he fares against some of the true PF's in the SEC this season as well as the Plumlee's.

I tell you what, I am pumped and ready for the next game. GO VOLS!!!

Even though this is an old NBA adage, you can say the same for college. You never give up on a young PG. Washpun has loads of talent. He'll be a defensive nightmare. His game will come.

The stat that stands out to me is this...made 15 of 24 three pointers....I don't think they had a game like that in the last 2 seasons. Defense was good, but we definitely need more size.

Even though it is UNCG was pretty impressive. Seemed to play much more disciplined offense and D. Looked like they had a pretty good half court game.

The opponent isn't too relevant in three point shooting. Still got to hit shots that most players struggle hitting 1/3 on. Especially on a consistent basis. Hopefully they keep up the hardwork and get us another win in Maui.

But I believe I'd put McBee in there for the 7-8 minutes a game you'll need to give Trae a rest. No more that that, but he'll play adequate defense and could pop a three every once in a while.
he will have to play at least 9 or 10 minutes to spell trae. no other point guards.

running out you with arms extended while you shoot. That's what made a guy like Lofton so unbelievably good. He could sink a shot with Kevin Durant bearing down on him with a hand in his face.

Great job last night. The key this year will be to keep this up against the teams they are even with and superior to, and build confidence for those nights they are playing the big boys.

McBee probably understands the game better than anyone on the floor...actually...I dont think there's much of a doubt about it...Talentwise and athletically, certainly he's far behind...But man does he work hard and put himself in the right places....Oh that our talented, athletic guys could understand the game the way Skylar does...But rarely do you see a Michael Jordan or Larry Bird who both understand the game and possess the skills to execute it....

Better overall coaching

please, one game against a lower tier team and you're going to make that statement? Sometimes I wonder if our fanbase deserves the beating we will receive on a night in-night out basis in the SEC.

I agree with this one hundred percent. But be prepared to be called every name in the book.

If you can't tell we are a better coached offensive team already, then I don't know what to tell you.

Oh, look. A University of Pearl supporter. Jesus Christ. Let it go, and knock off the constant attacks if anyone praises Coach Martin and says they think he's doing a good job.
