Only reason BAMA is in CFP is MONEY!

After watching the CFP crap show last night, it was obvious what was happening. The NCAA obviously has put pressure on this committee to at all costs of other deserving teams to leave BAMA in this shift show. Also is about Ohio St as well. Without these two teams in the CFP, they will lose a lot of money on TV revenue!! PERIOD!!!. To not drop OH ST in the rankings and leaving BAMA in the playoffs show me that this is all about money. If BAMA had 4 losses, there would still be a conversation on how to keep them in the playoffs.
I hate Bama as much as the next guy but they have better wins than Miami. It's just a fact

it's a close call and it's arguable either way...I mean the problem with having a 12 team bracket is that you have to pick 12 teams. Both dogs have fleas. But no sane person thinks that with 4 losses Bama would be under consideration

Not trying to be a jackass. You mention GOVERNANCE.......NOW. I am not talking governance right now. When the CFP format, participating conferences, etc was set up, the NCAA had to give it's blessing on this , otherwise, there would be court challenges, etc over control, money, participation in the whole process. SO YES, NCAA was involved at the beginning of this process including #of conference teams will be in the CFP playoff, as well as MONEY being distributed to the NCAA, TV money allotment for each participating conference, ticket allotment for each team, transportation expenses and many more details.
Sorry but again, you're wrong. No money goes to the NCAA from the CFP. Who gets paid what was negotiated among the conferences/universities. The NCAA has absolutely no say whatsoever in the matter and was NEVER involved in any way.

Lol. All the fake outrage. Who cares? Alabama has just as good a resume as all the other 3 loss teams and Miami. They'll probably kill Notre Dame.

If you wanna quote Wikipedia as a quotable source, then yes I am laughing because everyone, including you should know Wikipedia can be changed (edited) at anytime. Why don't you stop ridiculing people that have an opinion. Do you not realize this forum is for OPINIONS? Even the people that have their own college football podcasts are saying the same thing.

But Bama has 3 losses and the OU loss was far worse than any of Miami's losses. GT and Syracuse are quality teams and they were narrow losses. No team that gets boat raced by any 6-6 team deserves to be in the CFP.

So let's play reverse who has Miami beaten. Not s single ranked win unless I'm missing something. And you and I both know a 6-6 team is much better in the SEC than the ACC.

Anyways there really isn't any point of debating. We could go down this road forever.

If we were using the same old BCS computer rankings model, the exact same teams would be in the playoffs. We're all mad because it's Alabama, but the reality is they deserve to be in, based on their resume. And it's not all some big conspiracy.

Also, putting Alabama in over Miami fortifies the (important) reality that strength of schedule actually matters. If you put Miami in just because they have less wins, no one is ever going to schedule a tough OOC game again.

Now, if SMU loses, especially a close game, and the Committee puts Alabama ahead of an SMU team that had 1 regular season loss, then you might as well kiss Conference Championship games goodbye.

That's not really relevant.
Only because of where we were ranked pre-season. But it we had started down lower, our wins would not have come close to lifting us up into the playoff rankings high enough to actually make it in. GoVols 🍊

Bama's best win is UGA, who escaped a GT loss (at home no less) by the skin of their teeth. And no, I don't believe OU would really be any better in the ACC. Maybe they'd be 7-5 at best. They simply aren't a good team this year. OU is a team everyone loved to dog when they were in the Big 12. Now they're in the SEC and all of sudden they're better than teams in other conferences? Sorry, I don't buy it.

I don't agree. If UGA had lost to GT last week, we'd be ranked above them right now, despite having lost to them. The committee was never going to leave out a 2 loss SEC team as long as there weren't like five SEC 2 loss teams.

Look at Texas. They have no impressive wins outside for A&M, who is no longer ranked. If they lost last weekend, they would still easily be in the top 12.

All I can tell you is I'm glad I'm not on the committee trying to figure this stuff out

Notre Dame has played a legitimate schedule this year. Penn State and Indiana however.....
And what top 20 team did ND play? Even with the road win over ND, NIU isn't ranked in the top 100! That alone disqualifies ND from being in the top 10!

Sooo, an 11 seed team gets an easier path to the championship than a 9 seed? I would much rather play ND and SMU than Ohio State and Oregon.
Seeding should be based on where the committee determines teams would be ranked without respect to conference championships. No team should have an easy path to the playoffs. The No. 1 team shouldn't have to play a top 5 team in round 2 while a #10 ranked conference winner could end up playing a #12 ranked team.

ND played 4 ranked teams. The same as Tennessee.

Penn State played 2. Indiana played 1.

And ? Vols have 2 loses 1 early at night to a 6-6 team and 1 at UGA at night so What's your point Vols shouldn't be in ? You toeing that Bama boat ?
We'll take it if we get it of course. But please don't pretend that we bossed out way to the playoffs. We got smoked @ UGA after we squeaked by Florida and Bama at home. We certainly are not a big dog. We should be very happy we snuck into the playoff once all of those losses happened AFTER we lost our way out of the playoff in Athens. I ain't toeing no damned boat, whatever that means kid...
