Opener is a likely L per ESPN

I guess I am a broken record, but the media, including ESPN is lazy. They only report on matters that suits their agendas, they report lies and half truths and get their peer jerk circle awards. They get most of their material from Twitter (we all know how accurate that is) because they are lazy. They were English majors who all of a sudden are experts in sports, politics or whatever. They survive only because gullible people believe what they say and don't question them.

I want to apologize to Twitter. It is at least as reliable as some of the "responsible" media such as ESPN, CNN or MSNBC. Freak will tell you to come to VN to get the most accurate and timely news. :)

Actually, I would suspect that most of them are Journalism majors. English majors are actually expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the language.

Barely over 50% doesn't mean likely to lose, it means likely to be a good game.

Still, with our superior talent and homefield advantage, 25% would be much more accurate. Leave it to espn to be too lazy to figure their sh** out.

ehh ESPN is just putting a fair amount of emphasis on the O-Line and if Worley can take the next step. I expect us to put it to them, but who knows?

I know it wasn't the opener last year, but this really reminds me of the WKU game last season. Last year, I think ESPN and others made WKU the trendy pick going into week 2 (similar to Utah St this year). The WKU game was closer than the score would indicate, but when it was all said and done, we took care of business. I think this matchup will be similar. A good game, but UT's talent will equate to a win.

its pretty cream puff when you add up the combined records of the teams they have beat the past 2 yrs. Its really bad.

What I like about all of this pre-season banter is that no one has a clue for what teams will do for the most part except for the usual power teams. Good stable teams with returning players will be good, teams like ours are unknowns, so they base their opinions off of the past few years.

I like Worleys statement that they'll surprise a few people this year. Lets play a few games and we'll know where we stand. Short of that I think we'll be 6-6 or 7-5 in the regular season.

our defense would be tough to move the ball on if we played some of those teams they did. Thats weak if thats all ESPN has to go on.we'll see sunday. Really feels like WKU again.

It always helps when your d lines up against Northwest Idaho State every week. Name a team USU faced last year with as good or better skill position players than ours.

the first part of this is dead on. Cant see why others dont understand it.

just to name the majority of their schedule they had Weber state, UNLV, San Jose St, Hawaii, Air Force, Wyoming, New Mexico, CSU, etc.

we played Oregon, Mizzou, Alabama, Carolina, UGA, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Florida

they would have gotten thumped too. Hell, WKU was only two spots behind them nationally in total D. Statistics can be very misleading.

His ratings are opponent-adjusted which accounts for SOS. It says so in the article.

I know you are just looking for attention, but that is exactly the same problem EasSPN has. You can't base what's happening now and in the future to what's happened in the past any more. You can't look forward by looking backwards. The athletes are ready at a much earlier age now. They are better prepared before they ever even get into this situation. Our young men have the best coaching the country right now to cement this. Our QB is one of the most experienced in the country this season, and USU today is a COMPLETELY deferent team than it was last year. I'm out.

Ummmmm....replacing both lines, having a QB come off injury, and playing a credible opponent are here and now problems.

Time to shock the world and shut ESPN up. You know they hate to talk about all the top recruits we are landing

Kinda hard to shock the world with Utah State, unless we get 50 and a goose egg. Our chance to shock the world comes third game.

Who said it was just for Utah State? It's about the season and the doubters. Utah State is just first. Couldn't just post you own stuff but comment on mine

As frustrating as it is to me and seems to be to you too... most "experts" at this time of year do little more than check records over the past couple of seasons and maybe look at a few things that "stick out" like UT losing its starting OL and DL. The automatic assumption is that they will be worse... without any more info considered. By extension, the team will also be worse or at least no better.

Worley said in his presser yesterday that he thought they were going to surprise some people. I hope he's right. He seemed to have a great deal of confidence in his OL's.

Yeah riding home listening to this nerd on the Sport's Animal that covers Utah State...talking about how great their facilities are and how they just plug and play...no drop off in talent blah, blah, blah. The guy thinks they are Oregon 2.0 or something close to it.

We are still an SEC school with SEC level players recruited by other SEC programs. Our walk on left tackle Jacob Gilliam would be one of their prized recruits if they had him. We don't return starters but we return plenty of SEC level lineman on both sides of the ball.....we've heard this crap the last 3 seasons with NC State, Western Kentucky, and Cincy.

And this USC/Auburn barely beat them....well if you look at those 2 programs at the time they played them it resembled our program w/ Dooley towards the end....wheels were coming off...Kiffin/Chizik losing their teams confidence....post Barkley/Newton teams...our scenario is nothing like those now and we have a fully bought in football program for once in 6 years with a team in this system for a solid year.

They make it sound as if we have nothing but true freshman playing every position on the field whenever they talk about us.

You made a statement, I responded to that statement....that's how this internet thing works, I will send you a field guide to forum use, and conversation expectations if you need it. I don't have any of my own stuff as interesting as the idea of shocking the world by beating Utah State...that's just riveting, and engrossing, and frankly more insightful commentary then I had to offer...and I applaud you sir.
