Opening with OU

So you think it would be fair to make them play all their sec games on the road this year? What about next? All home games? You haven't thought this through besides being weird
Actually my point was more of an aggravated “I hate we have to start off in Norman” mentality. BUT since you went there…no I don’t think it’s realistic to have them play all their games in the road. However, since UT is one of the founders of the SEC, or at least been here long enough, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say they shouldn’t have to be the ones starting on the road in a place as hostile as Norman against the newbies of the conference. I get that’s how the chips lie and it is what it is, hopefully Heupel goes in with the mentality of “I’m not losing to my alma mater” to fix his road issues. But that being said, it’s going to be incredibly tough and Nico’s first huge test of the season, so I don’t have the utmost faith. Thus, it’s BS they have to do that.

Yea we aren't entitled to anything. Multiple "founding" members will play in Norman this year. And even if we are the only founding member to have to be on the road? So what. You think any of the non founders GAS we are founding member? Of course not. It makes no difference bc it will rotate. Just typical faux ass hurt by our fans

How would you know that their ass hurt isn’t real?

Vandy, MissSt, and Arky, could be worse. Win the FL and Ky games and we got a good season going.

NC State is a tough but most definitely winnable game. Should go 4-0 in OOC games.

AL, OK and GA win at least one of those and we have a really good season.

Vandy game will be 30 November
I would fully expect UGA and Kentucky to fill out the month.
The other November date will be open or either MissSt or Arky

Miss St or Arky game after Ok game in Sep

My guess is:

August:
Chattanooga
September:
NC State in Charlotte
Kent State
at OK
MissSt
October:
Open
Florida
Alabama
at Arkansas
November:
Open
at Georgia
Kentucky
UTEP
at Vandy

Good news is that they won't have Jeff Lebby as OC.

The bad news is that we face Jeff Lebby as HC at Miss State.

Our teams always come out flat the first couple of games.
I like playing NCSt because they are a decent team, but not great.
That gives our roster a good positive push.

I am really looking forward to playing UF later in the season.

If true playing Florida and Bama consecutive weeks is going to be tough even at home. We did that in 90 and 91 and went 1-3. Those years we had our 3 biggest rivals with Auburn, Florida, and Alabama scheduled all together with a bye week after auburn and think the grind of that hurt us when we faced bama.

Why should they open their SEC schedule at home is the better question. Hell their first two SEC games are at home. Why would they be welcomed into the SEC with that benefit?

I gotta agree here. It is some BS they’re making us travel and not them.
This makes a lot of sense. OU’s first SEC game sending Josh Heupel back to Norman to welcome them to the SEC. The storyline makes too much sense. That’s the way it’ll be marketed.

Oh I totally get why they’re doing it, I just hate it. Plus, I know people may disagree here, but I think next season is another 8-4 or 9-3 season. So I also wonder if the gameplan isn’t to make OU and Texas look great by giving them big games at home in hopes that the Red River Rivalry will basically determine which of them goes to the Conference Championship?

Edit: I just looked at both schedules for 2024 and now I’m convinced they’re trying to make it to where one of these gets into the title game for the “newbie to the title” storyline. TX’s “toughest” away game is A&M and OU’s is LSU.

Good time for us to catch them, possible new QB and a new OC to break in.
