It's funny you post this as I just switched to sling TV and so far I really like it. I canceled my Direct TV yesterday (oh to see them cry as I left). Sounds quality seems to be fine. Have noticed any bad sound. I am streaming over Comcast 75 MBPS internet and it works great. Every once in a while it will flake out but just for a second or two. I plan to just put up a digital antenna to get the local channels if they happen to not be playing on ESPN or SEC Network. I already have a good one I use to use before I got direct TV.
Are ABC,CBS, and NBC not available over-the-air most everywhere assuming an antenna is in place? Antennas are a one time cost and less than a monthly cable bill typically.
Even if you want to watch ND you can for free on NBC Live extra app. I also like Chicago Fire and Chicago PD and watch on Hulu plus. For those who might miss ABC, CBS, and NBC by going with Sling, fear not!
With your Sling subscription, you get free access to WatchESPN which means you will not miss out on any sporting event that comes on ABC!
You can watch any CBS sporting event for free on their website!
NBC is the bad apple of the bunch as far as accessibility goes. But this is the Notre Dame channel so who cares lol!
If my cable had a limit on internet I would be screwed. I play online games, watch Netflix, Hulu and watch ESPN app.I'm getting ready to cut the cord, so I've been researching and testing what to do. I live in Hendersonville, about 20 miles from downtown Nashville. I got an indoor HD antenna from Amazon for $6.27. It's about 8"x5". I figured I could afford to take the hit if it didn't work. On one side of the house, it picked up 27 channels. In my office, on the other side of the house, it picked up all but the local NBC and a home shopping channel. It has a little stand but laying it down is not a problem. Many channels are better than on cable. There are some free apps you can add to your Roku or other devices that stream local channels. NBC here is one of them, so that's all covered. I expect to add a package of all ESPN channels just during the season.
No date yet but Google fiber is coming to Nashville. $70 a month for 1 Gigabit internet and $60 more for TV. Just hoping they run it out this far.
