Oregon Ducks 2013

The one thing that I noticed last night, besides Oregon's speed, was that their defensive line didn't have much size and the DB's didn't really tackle real well. They had solid LB play especially from #47. I think that could be an interesting matchup with our offensive line. Stanford laid the ground work on how to beat them and it was pretty much running the ball at them. I've followed K-State a little this year and Klein did not look like himself last night.

Sounds like a gameplan we could use all year.

Dooley sure could have last season as bad as our defense was....but he chose to hurry up and put on the field as quickly as he possibly could :eek:lol: Bad game planning on his part.....for every game he coached :post-4-1090547912:

Don't forget we have a guy on our staff that has experience building a strategy that beats Oregon. Thigpen's experience and knowledge will go a long way

You're right...but I said the same thing when we had coach Wilcox.

How many teams does Oregon play that runs the spread offense, and or the hurry up offense like CBJ will coaching? I realize I need to brush up on other teams and conferences but figured some of you could give a quick answer.

Oregon's Dee was much more aggresive than I thought they would be!! They looked good against K-State....Solid challenge for the Vols next year. I do like Kelly though. He is not hiding the fact that he will listen to offers from the NFL. That's class if you ask me, sort of refreshing to hear.

So what if their OC moves up to HC. It's CK's system and there's no guarantee that he's gonna be another CK. Kelly is 46-7 in 4 seasons, that's freaking phenomenal! Do you really think the OC is gonna match that? Personally I see them going back to the Mike Belotti days if CK leaves. Not that it's a bad thing. But pre CK they were a good solid program, nothing more nothing less. In fact, I have them on my list of Johnny Come Lately programs. CK leaving along with the distractions from the NCAA investigation WILL take its toll on them. Think of what a cluster F Coach Pearl's last year was.

On the other hand, this isn't the same UT team Oregon faced in 10'. Oregon has proven to struggle in the trenches against good SEC teams. I don't know what our record will be next year, but I do know we'll have the best o-line in the entire country. At times they man handled dominant SEC defensive lines this past season, which is saying something. I've always said a DOMINANT o-line has the ability to control the entire game. I can see us giving them a good game JMO. When they go 3 and out, we smash them for a time consuming drive, then they score in 1:10, then we keep the ball for another 3-4 minutes...do that for 3 quarters and see where you are in the 4th quarter. It does 2 things. 1) it wears there defense down..2)it can keep their offense from getting in rhythm. To my knowledge, they've only played one team this year who controlled the line of scrimmage. And they lost that game. I'm not saying we will beat Oregon, but we have the ingridients to do so.

1. They don't have juniors high on the NFL list
2. Kelly isn't gone ... yet

All the talk is about their offense. I think their defense is very solid and the fact that the defense is losing should be beneficial to UT.

He will be gone.

SEC>PAC-gay

So

Tennessee Defense > Oregon offense

You must not have watched the last time we played Oregon. Got the brakes beat off us. Damn near beat AU and even against LSU last year they were up and down the field on that Defense, they just kept turning it over.

They are going to get spanked by the NCAA also I hear. Wow, there may not be a team left by next September.

Maybe one of the sanctions will be they can only play with 8 at a time. I think we could hang with them then.

IMO that's where people get in trouble against Oregon.....they attempt to shut down their offense. The best way to shut down their offense is to control the line of scrimage and keep them off the field with your offense. It messes up their offensive rhythm and wears their d down. We have the o-line to do this. I'm not calling a victory over them, but I think we have the ingridients to really disrupt what they wanna do with our o-line. And I damn sure ain't gonna call it a victory for them.

Ball and clock control is the best defense for a team that scores like that imo. But you have to score generally every time you have the ball.....an TD's not FG's. Own the line of scrimage and pound the rock....wear them down.....and keep the ball away from their offense.

Absolutely and should bode well for us next yr

Was working for Kstate until they stopped scoring TDs in second quarter.:cray:
