Oregon easiest path to bcs NC game ever?

Please explain the relevance of this.

oregon produces very few div 1a players. oregon isn't that close to southern california. eugene is in the middle of nowhere and not a desirable town to go to for "city kids." there are exceptions to this of course, but by and large this will limit your recruiting. and i'd argue it's pretty obvious i'm right considering the lack of depth of top recruits you've gotten in the past couple of years despite your considerable success. flatscreens and crappy uniforms only work for so many elite players. most want to play close to home. this has been proven over and over. this is the primary reason why you sucked for years and years. phil's money can only take you so far.

Are you implying that there aren't kids who want to get away from their hometowns and live in a more quiet place? (Jerrard Randall, LaMichael James, DJ Davis, etc.)

of course there are some kids, but enough for oregon to become an elite annual program? no. in college football history there aren't many programs who fit this category. nebraska is the only example and a lot of their run was a) roiding teh crap out of their players and b) oklahoma and texas being down during their run. as an example look at the list i posted. how many of those teams have had oregon's lack of recruiting? vtech the only one? every other program has had at least one (most multiple) top-5 recruiting classes. if you win the national championship this year you will be the first program in the bcs era to do so with this level of recruiting. to me that screams fluke rather than a pattern.

and the fact that you can dominate the national media landscape this year (and much of last) and still not pull a top-5 recruiting class tells me all i need to know.

Tennessee beat four top 10 teams, and solid Miss State squad. They earned their championship. The other half of the schedule was pretty damn soft though.

The Serra guys aren't going to Cal. Gibson is. I'd be surprised if Farmer and Lee ended up anywhere but SC. However if they three of them do indeed become Golden Bears, Oregon's run may be cut a little short.

With that said. Yes, Dro, Oregon was had one of the easiest paths to the BCS title game of any contender since the system was implemented in 98. However, they won their games, and deserve their shot.

Also, expect Wheat to come in here and scold you.

gibson and barr might commit to cal as early as tonight. we shall see.

Barr isn't one of the trio. You guys have Gibson in the bag.

And no offense, but I don't understand how Cal recruits so well. USC makes sense, they're USC. But Cal? It's mind boggling.

Definately and Tennessee played two teams that went to BCS bowls in Florida and Syracuse

Going to the Carrier Dome to play Donovan McNabb's Syracuse team in Week 1, plus the SEC schedule, doesn't qualify as an "easy" path.

3 players cutting a team's run short. Yes, Bumi, that's a great one.

Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin, Brandon Spikes.

Reggie Bush, Carson Palmer, Dwayne Jarrett.

Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Rolando McClain.

Need I go on?

If you think that those teams won championships because of those groups of players, you need to learn about the game of football.

The Oregon fans on this board are trying their hardest to make the entire fan base look clueless. :ermm:

I must admit I've been quite skeptical of the ducks all year. Their defense is suspect, they've been very lucky at times. Did I mention their defense is suspect? Yet they're 12-0. Do I think we're a dominant 12-0? No. Do I think we're deserving of the NC game? Uh...yeah. My gut says we get our behinds handed to us in the NC. But I've felt that way in several games this year. So anything's possible. I guess when you're a suspect 12-0 it's hard to root at times... "Yay we're 12-0 but soo beatable. Yay." We win...well Auburn's not so good. We lose...well it all makes sense now.

14th in scoring defense.
7th in turnover margin.
21st in sacks.
4th in interceptions.
25th in total defense.
10th in opponent 3rd down conversions.

That's more like a very good defense, actually. All this is while being on the field for the most time in the country because of the extremely low TOP that the offense has.

The defense isn't that good. They're alright, but nothing to write home about. Those numbers are skewed by the weak schedule the Ducks played through this season.
