So a recruit had a interview after his visit he said " the coaches told him Nike wants to make Tennessee the Oregon of the south "

I can understand the type of analogy they are trying to make. Not a bad idea if successful.

Think about it. Oregon speed with Tennessee size, strength, and toughness.

I see it as nothing but ad. speech we are "the new kids" to the company. Don't see us having 100 different uniform combos. However the recruit also said he liked the Nike switch so its working for us already.

If Tennessee starts that crap, "different clown outfit for every game", I'm done.

Too bad you feel that way. It's what's in the uniforms that count. I'm not for making us the Oregon of the South, we are TENNESSEE. So make us the Tennessee of the south. Now a few thoughts I have.

1. Tennessee's colors and emblems are ideal for design experiments and variations. Especially the checkerboard pattern.

2. I'm not for the wildly, gaudy, haphazard patterns you see on Oregon uniforms. I'd like see pattern variations that retain the classical UT look. Example: pants with checkerboard strip instead of the plain white or orange stripe. Same thing for the helmet. BUT NOTHING like say, checkerboard pants or jerseys.

So in essence, tasteful variation without the, well to be frank about the poster above, without the clown-like outfitting of the team.

Totally agree with you. I would mind if they did a LITTLE non traditional things. It's a new day and time in Tennessee let's embrace it.

It's going to be funny when all these threads about our uniforms being insanely gaudy end up being over absolutely nothing.

I think this could be really good for the university. That is, assuming they don't change our orange to like a neon/highlighter orange (which I don't think they would). What I think they mean by this is having a bunch of different cool looking uniforms for the players/recruits to get excited about. I think TN has the perfect amount of tradition while still being able to be a trend setter. They certainly won't take us up to Oregon's level, but we also won't be at Bama's level of pretty much the same bland uni every game.

Just Imagine us using more checkerboard or the interlocking UT or the VOLS more! They could be dirty.
