Kelly’s announcement came just hours after Masoli pleaded guilty to misdemeanor burglary in a Lane County courtroom. Masoli was sentenced to a year probation, 140 hours of community service and restitution for stolen property.

Kelly added that LaMichael James will be suspended for one games to start the 2010 season. James was also in court today, pleading guilty to a misdemeanor harassment charge brought by a female friend.

Oregon Kicker Rob Beard was given a one-game suspension during the same announcement. He pleaded guilty recently to the same charge as James.

One year they had slightly higher GPA at oregon. Congrats. Cal has been #2 BY A MILE in academic all americans in the pac-10. comparing that to the thugs and idiots at oregon is laughable.

I can't believe we are even arguing that one of the most respected universities in the world compares to that cow pasture in eugene. But here is the apr for the schools the past 4 years:

Pac-10 football: Examining the APR data | College Hotline

Notice cal ranks second in the pac-10 to Stanford.
Oregon ranks 7th below that great center of learning. . . ASU.

We were discussing what type of student-athletes the schools choose. Not what the schools APRs are. The APR at Cal could indicate that Cal classes are easier to pass than Oregon classes.

Cal would be way down the list for me if I had my choice of college. But, I'm not trying to disparage it or any other university the way that you are trying to.

Did you take a lot of drama classes there?

Losing Masoli hurts Oregon, but not so much as to derail their season. They may even be better off near the end of the year.

with that type of logic, at least we know you really are an oregon grad.

Actually, I didn't go to Oregon.

Care to defend your position or will you squirrel off as you normally do?

APR measures who is still in class, academically eligible and graduates. How do you figure that easier to pass classes would not result in higher scores by that measure?

I think it could go either way.

A QB that doesn't pan out has tanked many good teams. But, many think that Thomas has more up-side than Masoli did.

The QB battle should make the spring game a lot more interesting.
