Orson Charles (announcing at 4:30 pm EST)

find me a positive post from yourself about a recruit in the past month and I will forfiet posting for a week.

so having an opinion that someone will choose a school other than UT is negative? You said that my comments were "without reason". I think you need to get on the first boat off of Fantasy Island.

Well the reason I brought it up was because I think the guy should have list Tennessee instead of Miami. As soon as I read that I knew the article was junk!

I almost said that's ESPN for you, but now that the Nation is hooked up with them.....

It's obvious to everyone that the negative bug hit you about a month or so ago. There's no covering it up.

hardly, Im negative because I thought KG was going to UGA, OC to USC, BB to OU or the U? I guess if anyone thinks every player is going anywhere but the Hill they're negative? Did it occur to you that since NSD there are only a few guys left to talk about? that being the case I just dont see us getting those guys, with the possible exception of Oku.

Well that still doesn't mean that some of the ESPN writers will put better more informed articles.

not when it comes to recruiting. ESPN is consistently a day late with info. Their feature stuff is very good though, just dont look for insider type info.

What position will Charles play in college?

Quote:
Everyone knew Plant tight end Orson Charles could catch the ball. But last week, Wharton discovered that Charles also is an explosive pass rusher.

"He came after me every play," Wildcats quarterback Andrew Clifford said.

Because of Charles' ridiculous versatility, the question is this: Which position will the senior, who is listed on the Plant roster as being 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, play in college? Rivals.com rates Charles as the country's No. 2 tight end, but at least one person thinks he may have a better future on the other side of the ball.

A very good future at that.

"Very good athlete, very good hands, but he's your classic tweener," recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg told Gatorbait.net. "I don't know what position he is. I don't think he has the size to play tight end. I watched him play defense and he's a weak-side end, outside 'backer. The kid is pretty athletic."

interesting

If he is thinking of playing defense then he would have to welcome the opportunity to play for Monte.

Not sure about this though, because he has been very clear that he wants to be a complete tight end - blocking and catching.

I dont think there is anything to the defense thing, but posted this because the kid seems to be an all around stellar athlete

I will give Rex props, he is the most realistic and informed poster when it comes to recruiting including Sab and GHEric. I have followed recruiting pretty religously over the past 5 or so years and I always have a problem of being to optimistic like Govols, but Rex was right it just wasn't very likely we would land any of these guys. Thats why he is being negative, thats what the information leans you towards.

(but I do think we will land BB after recent happenings....:run:)

a guy on another board said a scout told him that OC could play on Sundays as a LB

From ESPN Recruiting Page:
"Charles cuts the Gators, down to three finalists"
'Top unsigned Class of 2009 tight end Orson Charles is no longer considering Florida, ESPN affiliate Web site TotalUGA.com reports.

Charles will now decide between Georgia, Tennessee and Southern Cal. TotalUGA adds that the Bulldogs and Trojans seem to have a leg up over the Volunteers, who were a late entry into the race for Charles.'

Of course TotalUGA would say that, but ESPN never references VolNation as an affiliate, so they don't have a full perspective

I hope and pray that we land BB, OC, and DO. I just dont see it happening. I am giddy over the fact that we are in the running considering how late we came to the party. I think it bodes very well for next year and years to come.

Remember, he was supposed to eliminate two schools before the visit to USC, leaving a UT/UGA battle. I just think he kept them in the picture out of respect to USC hosting him this past weekend.

I still think it's a UT/UGA battle with UT coming out on top. Don't discount Kiffin's powers of persuasion.

Not even - close. This guy came on here saying he was a stone cold lock to USC. Most here would like to think we'd get him but don't think we really have any lead.

I don't have any problems with him - just needs to learn to be the slightest be objective for once and stop claiming every recruit USC offers is a "lock" to USC and to mark it down.
One of our own has been saying the same thing. Plus there are plenty on here that are saying he's a lock to us without any more evidence than they have.
