Herbstreit may call the game. He'll probably overcompensate if so. He actually likes UT. Yeah, he went to OSU, and that's his allegiance. He will awkwardly go out of his way not to show favortism
Not sure how much allegiance Herbie has to OSU. His son has committed to play QB at Michigan. That would be like a Vol legacy’s son committing to Bama.

Back in my early football fanship, on any given Saturday, the teams on TV would be Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and UCLA. It almost turns my stomach to watch any of them on TV now. If it's a game that would benefit Tennessee in some way, I might watch it, but I can always watch the ticker as I watch someone else playing.
I've always had a soft spot for UCLA. My sister-in-law is an alum. The soft spot went away when she tried to get my oldest daughter to go there. Screw those people. My ex wife and son are USC fans .Screw USC. dislike them like I do bama. I dislike Ohio state and the domers . I have no real issue with Michigan.

Herbstreit is really on the outs with Ohio State at the moment because his QB son, Chase, committed to Michigan.

I don't think the kid is good and obviously Underwood will be QB1, but Kirk was a QB for tOSU back in the day.

It would be like Navy Shuler committing to Florida.

Probably worse, honestly. It’s Bama-Auburn level hatred. I lived in Michigan for a bit and “Buckeye” is like a curse word there.

I believe he moved to Nashville.
Don’t know if he still lives there.
From Wokipedia:
The Herbstreits moved from Ohio to Nashville in 2011, but now split time between there and Cincinnati where their youngest son, Chase, plays quarterback for St. Xavier High School.[13] [14] His twin sons, Jake and Tye, were athletes at Montgomery Bell Academy.[15] Tye played football as a walk-on at Clemson University;[16] Jake walked on at Clemson before transferring to Ohio State to focus on academics. Herbstreit has another son, Zak, who joined the Ohio State football team as a preferred walk-on in 2021, as a tight end.

I think showing up in the Shoe for our game in a Michigan jersey is probably the most dangerous move you could make.

That's why the "flag fracas" after their game seemed normal to me. Michigan, a 20 point dog, comes into Columbus and upsets a top 5 Ohio State in what was supposed to be a big "revenge game mauling" by the Buckeyes? You can't write a better script for Michigan to disrespect Ohio State. The entire state of Michigan wanted that flag planted and the Buckeyes to be tormented by it.

This is the Way.

Wonder if he will mention his kid going to Michigan?

I don't know about that .... The Anderson's (as in the University of Tennessee Anderson Training Center), had a son/nephew (Keaton) play for Alabama. Keaton's dad, Terry, was a former Tennessee linebacker. Terry's brother, Charlie, is a prominent Tennessee booster. I think it would be ridiculous to question their allegiance to UT considering how much they have donated.

I think it’s safe to say he and Fowler will call both of the prime time games that weekend. ESPN Gameday will broadcast their show from South Bend on Friday and Columbus on Saturday.

Nope, two different crews calling the games.

ESPN’s top commentary team of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe will call a TV game in every round of the expanded CFP, including No. 9 Tennessee at No. 8 Ohio State

Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy and McGrath will call a first round (No. 10 Indiana at No. 7 Notre Dame)

He's been complimentary of UT going on a quarter century, often even after seeing us go down in flames when he predicted a robust UT win; see 2001 Cotton Bowl.
One of the most objective and consistently appreciative pigskin pundits when it comes to TN football.
You’re being too objective. Many of our fans prefer to cry that everyone is out to get us.

You’re right though. Herbie has been very complimentary of Tennessee over the years.

I don't really have an issue with Michigan. I have/had relatives that live/lived in Michigan so I would pull for them when they were playing. Never cared for Harbaugh, but he ain't there now so I can watch them play now.

Guys like that writer are low quality, bottom of the barrel types with very little talent or original thinking…to say that brand bias is at play in favor of Alabama is clear and obvious when every objective (not subject to bias) power ranking system I have seen has bama above ole miss and s car is just to be ignorant of the facts.
