OSU Fans Complaining About the Refs!

I thought the ref's were bad both ways honestly. Its been said before and it's true that if the shoe was on the other foot and we lost that game we would be on here blasting away at the officials. Even though i would have been saying the same stuff if we had of lost probably, I enjoyed reading some of the posts on the buckeyes fan forum. It was a solid two hours of crying about the officials, tennessee had nothing to do with them losing the game lol.

It's about 50/50 for OSU fans blaming the refs, at least from what I've seen. The ones blaming the refs are the obnoxious, typical "OSU is the best school in any sport, period" kind of fans. It is blatantly obvious that last block was not a foul, but those fans refuse to see it that way. However, there are still a lot of OSU fans that think that UT won because they wanted it more.

Personal Fouls: Tennessee 20, OSU 16. Yep, the officiating cost OSU the game.

If any fan can watch that last shot attempt and can honestly say there was a foul, they are a fool. Turner stuck his left arm out and flopped as soon as he touched the ground.

It's easy. Tell them that if Prince fouled Turner, then Oden fouled Ramar in 2007, and we're at the line for 2, down by 1.

If they whine that Goins should have been hit with an intentional foul, then Oden intentionally fouled the Xavier player.

It's called karma.

Which is what he had to do. He had no chance to make the shot so forcing contact, flopping, and hoping for a call was pretty brilliant on his part. IIRC, during the game one of the announcers even said, "You're not going to get that call at this point in the game". I don't claim to fully understand the new charging rules, but I just about came unglued when they called blocking on Prince and just a few minutes later, UT was called for a charge. I thought CBP was about to come unglued as well. I don't think OSU has a leg to stand on other than the refs were generally horrible. They got the benefit of just about every close call.

Felt compelled to start messing with them since UT got so many calls against them that were awful the whole game. So, enjoy, I posted this on their site under the username: MsChokesonDick:

"Let me just start this by saying that I'm just a bball fan, not a UofM or UT fan or anything. But...

All of this whining & unintelligent moaning & talk really does a good job to illustrate the education level, or at least that perceived around the country, of most Buckeye fans & OSU grads. What a joke. If you guys watched the game with any actual knowledge of sports, or bball in this case, you would know that your only correct statement in all arguments is that the refereeing sucked. t didn't suck for OSU, nor has it sucked for you guys all tourney. It sucked for the opposition. OSU was the actual benefactor of most of the bad calls. Ticky-tack hands calls, Prince getting 2 fouls in 15 seconds of play, neither of which were actual fouls, charges called blocking fouls on the opposition, you name it.

But truthfully, I & many, expect this from OSU fans w seemingly inferior Ohio St. educations. Maybe you guys should have gone to Athens for school, then you wouldn't be running off such idiocy at the mouth about every sporting event THE Ohio St. Univ. plays in.

However, the crazy guy w/the 60 in. HD plasma screen TV is who I worry most about. He clearly has problems in the realm of education, attitude, & vision. I was watching on a 40-something in. plasma from ~15 ft. away from the screen, & with my contacts in, I was able to pick up Prince's hand clearly touching a spherical orangish object with black lines on it, not touching arm, then on the way down after the shot, minimal, if any body contact. But, the refereeing was from an objective standpoint, so biased against the Volunteers the whole game, I actually thought they might go & call a foul on that. Luckily for the validity & sanctity of the tournament, they didn't So, Mr. Plasma screen, please go to the optometrist at your earliest convenience (maybe even try to find one open over the wknd), have a seat in front of your 60 in. plasma, & try to listen when announcers talk & really pay attn to the ins-outs of the game, so you can know the game better & have more enjoyment of games going forward & the rest of the tourney."

Then, I had an emoticon with googly eyes & a hand making circles around the ear, a al, "crazy" emoticon. haha

Aaaand 30 min later, moderator revoked my access to the msg board! haha I mean, I didn't even cuss! Maybe it was the username including the word "dick" cause IMO, it was a clean opinion. ha

Wow, excellent memory! Good call.

I had forgotten about those until you mentioned, & now I can remember them clear as day. I was, oddly, even more livid about Oden's foul on the Xavier guy...that was egregious.

I generally don't advocate trolling rival/opponent message boards, but this is quoted for awesomeness.

I think the *****ing had to some extent run its course. There was one post on "my initials must be MS...go back to your 'holler...enjoy your 'Tennecheat' win". Some stupid stuff. I asked him what the MS initials would stand for. No reply by the time I got kicked off. Haha.

I hate OSU. For those of you that live in SEC country, everything you hear about them is true. My parents were UofM grads, but with no particular dislike for OSU. But, having gone to school at Ohio U, around OSU ppl all the time, the living in Chicago around all the Big 10 fans who think their teams are always so super good, even though usually they don't hold a candle to SEC teams (football), the worst & most obnoxious of which are OSU fans. Light-years worse than any other Big 10 school's fans.

Thanks, SGM. Your username pic is pretty awesome! It's small, but looks like Berry's hit on Moreno from a great angle that makes it look like he's punching him! haha

In a fairly officiated game, UT wins that game by 10.
'[

This is an example of a fan with blinders on. Most of you on here are reasonable and see the game for what it was. A game that was not called very consistently for anyone on either side.

As an Ohio State fan, I say it balanced out in the end. I saw two consecutive charge calls that were missed in the second half that favored the Buckeyes. I saw a 10 second call on UT that was more like 7 or 8 seconds. I saw Williams and Chism throw a few Buckeyes around during the game with no call. Saw Diebler make a clean steal in a key situation to only have a foul called and two shots the other way.

In the end, the Vols worked harder on the boards and won the game in the paint. Diebler was an absolute no-show going 1-8 from the field, 0 rebounds, 0 assists and 1 steal in 40 minutes! How can you play 40 minutes iin a basketball game and not even have the ball bounce to you even once?

Personally, I don't think the last play was a foul. Watching it live, I thought it was a hack but on the replay, I believe there was no contact. Turner wasn't even squared up so I doubt the shot would have gone in anyway.

These message boards are a good thing but occasionally you run across posters like Windy City Vol who are blinded by hatred. I would like to have seen OSU win but am not bitter at all. I feel we lost to a team that played harder than we did. Can't speak for every Ohio State fan but that's how I saw it.

I'm not blinded. I didn't hate till I experienced...with blinders off. It actually wasn't till after college & moving to Chi, & spending multiple years in Chicago, that OSU fans in general started to grate on me. But, you are a reasonable rarity by my experience, Ankle. Congrats.

The biggest BS call of the night was probably the blocking foul the called on Prince in the last 10 minutes.

That's bullcrap man - I rewatched the game and paid special attention to that play. The camera is zoomed out fully covering basically the whole court at that point. You can't see anything. To make things worse - CBS never shows a replay of it - and on top of that - Diebler was trying to steal it on the side opposite the camera so you have no idea if he swiped Chism's hand or whatever the ref called it for.

I'll trust the ref who was on the floor and could actually see his hand and the ball over someone watching on TV from a horrible view.

It looked clean live because you can't see anything from that view, period. You can't say with certainty it was clean.

Bottom Line is that OSU fans will be talking about woulda, coulda, shoulda for years to come and how the Refs blew it. It is nature of their beasts and happens everytime they get beat in any sport. It does not matter if it is football, basketball or swimming and it does not matter if they get beat by 40 or 4 points. When they do not win it is either fixed or is the Refs fault. Check there boards.

They have the nerve to overlook the Miami NC game and call that a justified pass interference. What a bunch of jerks and babies.

The Oden foul in the Xavier Game. Missed. More OSU nerve.

Conley foul on Smith. Missed.

I didn't see anything wrong with the officiating at all. Calls were missed both ways, shat happens.

However, it could also be the sports Gods consulting and deciding to pay Ohio St back for that BS pass interference call against Miami that handed them a national title. What goes around comes around.

Haha. It's funny how you ignore the defensive hold by Miami on Chris Gamble with about 2 minutes to go in the 4th. The worst no-call in the history of college football. Go back and watch the tape unless you're afraid of what you'll see. If called like it should have been, it's first down Ohio State, game over, no OT, no controversial late flag that you seem so quick to recall but conveniently forget a far more obvious missed call a few minutes earlier.

And the play you refer to, the hold took place at the 5 yard line, not the interference in the end zone. The only thing wrong about that play was the flag was thrown about a half hour late. Whose fault is that?

The funny thing is, some of you didn't pay attention to my last post. I will repeat, I didn't think the officiating cost Ohio State the game last night and a couple of you either can't read or can't comprehend. So what if I saw the Diebler steal differently than one of you. I might be wrong but you might be too. Either way, it doesn't matter. It was called a foul and you play on. Why not make a comment on the plays I thought went in Ohio State's favor there, Bass Man? Did you not see Williams and Chism throwing OSU players aside? Things happen in basketball games both ways and, frankly, I don't think it made any difference in the outcome.

Good luck tomorrow vs. Sparty.
