Other Games: Tonight is the night...

I think Kaela Davis has been a disappointment for SC this season. Today I figured out that all she brings to the table is height. Just saying...

I've said she'd be a non-factor ever since she came to SC, but nobody ever wanted to listen.

She isn't allowed to play her game, seriously she should've stayed at GT or transfered to a team where she would be the second piece to a puzzle at SC she is really the 4th option behind Wilson, Coates, & Gray,

If she wanted to play in the SEC she should've chose LSU or Kentucky (it would be her and Taylor Murrary's team next year when Epps & Akathor leave but she would've been able to do her thing there)

Or she should've went to Rutgers and played for a well respected coach where she could dominate this year and then have a running mate next year when Tyler Strife returned but MaMa Davis thought she was sticking it to Us (Lady Vols) by having her go to SC thinking its a guaranteed National Title not knowing that she wouldn't have the freedom she had at GT

If Davis hit the shots she takes, I don't think she would be getting as much heat as she's been getting. But she shoots a lot and misses a lot, and generally is a very low IQ player.

I am skeptical of it being an issue where she isn't free to play her game, and it seems that the bigger issue is that she is a volume shooter who needs to have the ball in her hands and chuck up a ton of shots to get to her 19 ppg while ignoring the other 4 players on the court with her.

I don't see her going to the WNBA at this rate.

RPI

1) UCONN
2) ND
3) Miss State
4) South Carolina
5) Oregon State
6) Washington
7) Duke
8) Texas
9) Baylor
10) Stanford

I think TN is underrated, and could explode with success anytime. The team just has to decide if they want it.

Shootout in Columbus, Ohio as OSU leads MD 23-19 with 3 minutes in first quarter. Great shooting display by both teams...over 60% on both sides.

Mavunga is out, so Tori McCoy will get a lot of minutes tonight. Too bad Tennessee couldn't have gotten her. She's going to be a really good player for OSU.

OSU finishes the quarter with 12 straight makes and leads 35-22. They shot 78% from the floor 😮

Kelsey Mitchell unstoppable so far. She had three triples in the first 10 minutes, including a pair of pretty deep ones. Oh, what good guards can do for a team...

81% shooting for OSU, but their only up by 10. Too many turnovers and fouls. 42-32 with 5 min to play.

Maryland was close at home against UCONN but neither OHio State or Maryland has the discipline to beat UCONN.

I was having that exact conversation on cockytalk after the UConn game in regards to guard play. You got 2 top 10 players that are used as bail out players? They should be just as much as an option in the offense as Wilson or Coates. They have 3 top 10 players in their starting 5 but you couldn't tell it based on their offense. K. Davis should be driving to the rack not running baseline for 3s. She should be learning how to post up smaller defenders and doing a better job crashing the boards. Cuevas-Moore should be driving and kicking out or spotting up for 3s not passing around the perimeter waiting for Coates or Wilson to be open.

They do not have an equal opportunity offense. With that many skilled players it should be wide open. Anyone should be able to hurt you and as much as it seems that way on paper the game plan is the same as it was in the 15-16 season. There should be multiple plays for their 4 main starters. It seems more like the plays for the guards are only an option if Wilson or Coates are in foul trouble. Now when the guards are being asked to shoot they are either under duress of the shot clock or under pressure because you are only being asked to shoot when your team is down.

I would challenge them to stop throwing the lob all together. In reality I doubt Dawn changes anything. They have won the vast majority of their games and most likely will continue to do so. There are however fundamental things that really should have been cleaned up a while ago but if they don't think it's broken why change it. Unless they completely fall apart in the SEC tourney they will get at least a 2 seed most likely.

I was so hopeful they would move to a motion offense when she has been saying since 2013 but it's really just the same old same with new players. Basically the game plan is throw it to Wilson or Coates if you happen to score and neither of those are your last name... good for you.

Maryland can bulldoze them. That's their only chance, although I think they do a decent job of creating scoring opportunities with ball movement.

OSU is talented, but they play straight up street ball. Unless they hit everything like their doing tonight, I agree they'd have no chance.

OSU is not a strong rebounding team without Mavunga. I really like her. Hope she's back soon.

Kelsey Mitchell is 😨😨😨😨 with her explosiveness. MD defenders are sucking wind trying to keep up.
