Other Games: Tonight is the night...

What's crazy is Tennessee and South Carolina both have the players and talent to beat UCONN the only downfall is coaching when it comes to facing the Huskies. Coach Geno does an amazing job with his program haven't seen anything like that since the Pat Summit days. I thought this would be a down year for UCONN but they still look great.

The difference in the ND-NCST game came down to free throws. NCST was 14-15, while ND was only 4-11. Both teams shot in the low 40s, both inside and outside the arc.

NCST hasn't played anyone of note before tonight, and the "good" teams they played ended up in losses. (LSU by 1, Tulane by 5, KSU by 17) and hey beat UNCW by a score of 86-54. And, while I know that you cannot really compare/extrapolate from common opponents, looking at the NCST record going in to the ND game should give he Lady Vols a modicum confidence that they can play with "mighty" ND.

Add Baylor to the list of teams that could beat UCONN but will (or did) not! This will be #11 NC for Geno.

Uconn is good because they give great effort all the time . And excute all the time on defense and offense. But uconn is not sitting there with no talent they have 5 McDonald's AA on there roster

Collier and KLS are two of the best players in the country, and Williams might be the most complete. They have no shortage of talent.

It's that execution part that really sets them apart. They don't just play hard, they play smart. They're like freakin' robots...

It's Geno's coaching that set these young women apart from other players. This is why they execute so good.

Disagree a little, KLS and Williams are 2 of the best in the country, everyone else fits in well with his system. There was a reason he wanted Williams on the floor last night when they both had 4 fouls, a sick KLS and not Collier as they are smarter and can pass the ball, Collier gets a lot of open looks because of KLS and Williams.

You are short changing Collier severely. Then again I suppose so do many of the coaches she has played against. You don't have to believe she is one of the best in the country but when the kid is the leading scorer vs FSU, Texas, Notre Dame, & Ohio State give her some credit. I call Collier "Mini Morgan". She does everything that Morgan Tuck did for UConn. She isn't flashy but works hard no matter who she is up against. She runs the floor and rebounds well. She can hit the 3 and the mid range(usually from the short corner). She gets a lot of open looks because she competes through the ENTIRE SHOT CLOCK and she makes some really pretty cuts to the basket.

What they do is cyclical and everyone knows their part and doesn't deviate. That is how you get so consistent. There was nothing done last night by a UConn player that they haven't done before. That is how you prepare to win a National Championship. You prepare at a higher level then you will perform at a higher level.

The Men's program proves this. UT men was within 3 pts pf NC. UT has no McD AA's. UNC has a bunch

I find it odd that a coach never comments on the ins and outs of a game thread.

So, I'll ask ya'. Why don't you comment on the details of offense and defense you're watching in a game thread?

Not short changing her at all, she is not the focus of the defense, she gets open looks and easy lay ups because she is not the focus of the defense. Easy to rack up points when you get that many open lay ups. Plus she makes silly fouls and hurts her team and looked like a deer in headlights against MD. Playing through the shot clock is not a compliment as I would think you would be saying that is why your team is so successful SMH. FYI she hasn't hit crap the last few games away from 2 feet from the basket, unless you are getting her confused with Williams LOL.

If she is "not the focus of the defense", she makes them pay. However, I disagree. She gets open looks because of how the team runs their offense and because she moves without the ball. She averages near 20 ppg. Today's numbers - 10/11 for 22 points including a handful of nifty jump shots, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. All of which is impressive as an undersized post player.

Duke over Louisville 58-55 at Duke.

Did anybody see the Louisville trick play on an inbounds?

Louisville has the ball and purposely sets up on the wrong end of the court on the inbounds play. Duke falls for it and sets up on this end of the court also. When the official hands the ball to Louisville to inbound, they toss it in and have an open path in the other direction for a layup. Sneaky.

OSU was never going to come close to beating UConn. Which is a shame because they are, top to bottom, the most talented team in the country. But they have mediocre coaching, similar to Texas (and us).

That's what you bring to the table in terms of analysis? Whether I agreed with you or not you would have to bring more than that for me to even remotely take you serious. There are plenty of people here I don't agree with but have had great basketball conversations with. C'mon man. That was really pitiful.

You're a UConn fan on a UT fan message board. Why should he give two shake's of a rat's butt if you take him seriously or not?

The point isn't in where our school affiliations lie. Which I referenced in my last post. At least that's not how I approach every single conversation I have on every board. Some people on this board actually like to have knowledgeable basketball conversations no matter who you support that's the only reason I post here. In WCBB there are very few places like that.

Even if he were talking about a UT player I would assume if he felt strongly about something he would bring stats or facts if he wanted to discuss it on a forum with people who have watched the same games. Then again it seems just plain ol' opinions will do sometimes. Doesn't matter either way.

NC STate, beats another top 5 team, FSU. They beat Notre Dame a few days ago.

I looked back at espn top 100 recruits and NC state is getting it done with some 50 - 100 recruits mixed with recruits outside the top 100. Coaching and fundamentals!
